The military base was quieter than usual. With a break day in sight and no training scheduled for the next morning, most of the soldiers took advantage of the rare opportunity to relax.
Jungkook, however, wasn't in the mood to rest. The thoughts swirling in his head were too much to handle.
Jungkook's pov
"Why him? Why Minho? Of all people, why does Taehyung have to like my brother?"His frustration had built up over the past few weeks, and today, it reached its peak.
Seeing Taehyung smile, laugh, and talk about his feelings for Minho was too painful. No amount of advice or pretending could ease the ache that burned in his chest every time Taehyung mentioned his brother.
"Kook, are you alright? You've been quiet all day."Jimin said Jungkook looked up at his friend, forcing a smile.
"I'm fine. Just... need a break."Jin, who was leaning against the wall, chimed in.
"We all need one. That's why we're heading to the bar tonight. You're coming with us, right?"Jungkook hesitated, but then the thought of drowning his sorrows in alcohol seemed appealing.
Maybe a few drinks would help him forget at least for a little while.
"Yeah, I'm in."jungkook said
The bar they went to was a small, dimly lit place not far from the base. It wasn't fancy, but it was just what they needed. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air.
As soon as they walked in, Jin and Jimin grabbed a table while Jungkook headed straight to the bar.
He ordered a drink, then another, and before long, he was lost in the haze of alcohol. Jimin and Jin tried to keep pace, but Jungkook was on a mission.
He needed to forget, to push away the feelings that were tearing him apart.
"Jungkook, slow down, man. You're drinking too fast."jimin said looking at Jungkook, Jungkook waved him off, downing another shot.
"I'm fine. Just let me be."But Jimin wasn't convinced. He shared a worried glance with Jin, who shrugged.
"It's been a tough few weeks for him. Let him get it out of his system."jin said
Jungkook, already feeling the effects of the alcohol, leaned back in his chair, staring up at the ceiling. His mind was spinning, and all he could think about was Taehyung.
How much he wanted to be the one Taehyung liked. How much it hurt to see him pine for someone else.
Jungkook mumbling "Why does it have to be Minho? What's so great about him, anyway?"Jimin leaned in, barely catching what Jungkook was saying.
"Are you talking about Taehyung again?"Jungkook groaned, covering his face with his hands.
"He doesn't even see me, Jimin. I'm right here, and all he cares about is my brother. It's killing me."Jimin sighed, patting Jungkook's shoulder.
"I know, Kook. It's rough, but maybe you should just tell him how you feel. Holding it in is only making it worse."
But Jungkook shook his head, taking another swig from his glass.
"No. I can't. He's so into Minho... He'd never look at me that way."Jin, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up.
"Taehyung's not an idiot, Jungkook. He might be clueless sometimes, but he's not blind. Maybe he doesn't know how you feel, but he can't ignore how much you care about him."Jungkook let out a bitter laugh.
"Yeah, right. The only thing he's ever asked me about is how to impress Minho. He doesn't care about me."
"That's not true, and you know it. Taehyung's your friend, and he cares about you. Maybe more than you realize."jimin said trying to console But Jungkook wasn't listening anymore. The alcohol had taken over, and all he could think about was how unfair it was.
How he wished he could trade places with his brother. How he wanted, just for one moment, to be the one Taehyung looked at with admiration and affection.
Before anyone could stop him, Jungkook stood up abruptly, swaying slightly as he did.
"Whoa, whoa, where are you going?"jin asked
Jungkook slurring "I need air."
Jungkook stumbled out of the bar, the cool night air hitting his face. He staggered down the street, his mind a chaotic mess.
All the feelings he had kept bottled up were spilling out now, and he didn't know how to handle them.
Jungkook's thoughts were disturbing him, "I love him... I love him so much, and he doesn't even know."He leaned against a lamppost, his head spinning. Somewhere in the distance, he heard Jimin and Jin calling after him, but he couldn't focus.
The world felt like it was collapsing around him, and all he could do was hold on.As he stood there, lost in his thoughts, he heard a familiar voice.
"Jungkook? What are you doing out here?" Taehyung called him,Jungkook turned, his vision blurry, but there was no mistaking that voice. Taehyung stood a few feet away, looking at him with concern.
"Are you okay? You look... drunk."Jungkook laughed bitterly.
"Yeah, I'm drunk. Drunk and stupid."Taehyung frowned, stepping closer.
"What's going on, Kook? Why are you out here alone?"Jungkook looked at Taehyung, the person he had fallen for so hard, and something inside him snapped.
"Why don't you ever see me, Taehyung?"Taehyung blinked, clearly taken aback.
"What are you talking about? I see you all the time."But Jungkook shook his head, tears stinging his eyes.
"No, you don't. You see Minho. You talk about him like he's everything you've ever wanted, and I'm just... I'm just here. I'm always here."Taehyung's eyes widened, and for the first time, he seemed to realize just how much Jungkook was hurting.
"Jungkook, I..."But Jungkook couldn't listen anymore. His emotions were too raw, too overwhelming.
He pushed past Taehyung, walking further into the night, leaving Taehyung standing there, confused and heartbroken.Taehyung whispering "I didn't know..."
