"she will entice you
with most beguiling charms
down an endless
rabbit hole"
-Line Gauthier

"Oh, how nice of you to join us miss Y/L/N. Please take a seat, there's an empty desk by the window." Mr. Fischbach said as he pointed his pen at the desk.

"Sorry. I got lost." You lied as you walked over to your desk, threw your bag underneath the table then slumped onto the chair. In reality, you'd hidden yourself in the bathroom after breakfast so you could have a secret vape break.

"Don't worry, we can discuss it during your detention this evening." He said dismissively.

"Perfect, then you can give me my phone back." You said nonchalantly as you took your notebook and pen out of your bag, slapping it onto the table.

"You can have your phone back, miss Y/L/N, when you decide to follow the rules." He said, turning around, writing a note, then stood upright and walked with purpose over to your desk. You swallowed hard, looking up at him as he placed a hand on your desk, looking down at you with those dark, tempting eyes. He then handed you the paper, slotted in between his two fingers. You snatched it from him, looking defiantly into his eyes before looking down and reading it.

Detention notice: Y/F/N
Issued by: Mr. Fischbach
Place and time of detention: L6, 4:15pm
Reason: using phone outside of dormitories. Late to class. Attitude.

The date was stamped at the top. You thought about how strange it was that you were only given one punishment for three broken rules but you didn't say anything, not wanting to be punished further. Mr. Fischbach then walked over to the front of the class and continued with his lesson.

"So one thing that gets lost on a lot of students is the irony used in Austen's writing. She used humour and irony throughout the book to subtly criticise social norms. Take a look at the opening line..."

You became instantly uninterested.

The rest of the day slugged on by. Especially English. Luckily though, Lina was in some of your other classes, including art which you had last period. As it turned out, she was nice enough and one of the only students willing to talk to you.

"Wanna study with me in the library?" She asked as the class began packing up their things. There was a two hour independent study period in between last period and dinner, essential considering the work load you were given.

"I have a detention." You replied as you got up and began walking out of class.

"Oh no, who with?" She asked, following you out of the room, her little legs moving quickly to keep up with you.

You stopped outside the classroom and turned to her, your bag slung over one shoulder. "Mr. Fischbach."

Lina smiled cheekily. "Could be worse." She giggled, hugging her notebook close to her chest. "I think he's..."

"A prick? Shitty? An asshole?"

Her eyes widened at your language and her face turned red. She was so cute. "I was gonna say handsome."

You rolled your eyes and smiled. "He might be hot but it doesn't make him any less of a hardass. I'll see you at dinner." You said, waving as you walked away.

"B-bye!" She said, watching you walk away, then looked around hoping nobody heard your foul language before scurrying away to the library.

You walked along the corridor, round the corner and approached room L6. The door was shut so you knocked loudly before letting yourself in, just wanting to get this over with. Your eyes then settled upon a girl standing in front of Mr. Fischbach's desk, talking to him as she played with her badly dyed copper hair. The girl snapped her head towards you with wide eyes as you stood in the doorway.
