"You go your way. I'll go your way too." -Leonard Cohen

As you walked through the corridor to Mr. Fischbach's classroom, you thought about everything you'd discovered. You were so distracted in fact, that you weren't even really looking where you were going, and found yourself clashing shoulders with a girl walking the opposite way.

"Watch where you're going loser." The girl spat.

You spun around and saw Juniper, her orange-ish hair swayed over her shoulder as she turned to look at you.

"Loser? What are you, five years old?"

She scoffed. "I'm more mature than you."

You rolled your eyes. "Says the girl who looks like a crayon."

"At least I haven't been in isolation all week." She said, folding her arms and smirking.

You furrowed your brow. "What does that even- what's your problem?"

She narrowed her eyes at you and put her hands on her hips. "What's your problem? You think you own this school. You think you're so cool getting into trouble and doing whatever you want."

"I'm only in trouble right now because of you Juniper. I could give anyone your name and you'd be right where I am so don't even fucking try me." You folded your arms. "And I don't think I own this school. I couldn't give less of a shit about it in fact. You reek of projection and insecurity."

Juniper went red in the face, angry. "If you give anyone my name I'm telling them Daniel and Jacob were involved too." She said. "And I'll tell them you ratted them out."

"Ask me if I fucking care." You said, then walked away.

"Are you going to tell on me?" She asked quickly as you walked. You simply held up your middle finger and found your way to Mr. Fischbach's classroom.

You knocked before letting yourself in. "That girl gets on my fucking nerves." You said, half to him, half to yourself.

"What girl?" Mr Fischbach asked, watching you walk in and sit down at your desk in a slump. He was prepared to have a deep, slightly upsetting conversation about what you'd discussed earlier, but was a little relieved to see you distracted.

"Juniper." You said. "She just has something against me I have no idea what her issue is."

He raised his eyebrows. "She was in here just now actually. This is the third time she's asked me about private tutoring."

You let out a loud laugh. "She's so down bad for you."

"Excuse me?" Mr Fischbach asked, standing up and walking over to your desk. "Just because you have a thing for older men doesn't mean every student does."

You opened your mouth in shock. "I do not have a thing for older men!"

"Oh, so I must be the only exception?" He said teasingly, leaning on the desk in front of yours and folding his arms. Now he was closer, you saw that on his black tie were small smiley faces in a darker black, barely visible, but a nice touch.

"Nah, I'm all over my other teachers too. I mean have you seen principal Hargrove? Sexy stuff." You said sarcastically.

"I've been there. Trust me just because she's old doesn't mean she knows what she's doing in bed."

Your eyes widened and your heart skipped a beat in disgust and jealousy. "Are you serious?!"

He laughed. "No I'm not serious! Jesus, Y/N!"

You narrowed your eyes at him as he laughed. Obviously what he said was a joke, you just weren't expecting that kind of joke from him. You tried to hide your smile, his joyous laugh still going- he'd really amused himself.

"You're stupid." You mumbled, folding your arms.

"I have a PhD." He said, recovering from his laughter, pulling himself up onto the desk.

"Your PhD is stupid." You replied. "And your tie is stupid."

"What's wrong with my tie?!" He asked defensively, looking down at it.

"It's stupid." You said with a shrug, looking away to hide your smile.

"Fine. Should I take it off? Would that please you, princess?" He said teasingly.

Your heart fluttered and this time you couldn't stifle the smirk that snuck up onto your face. You looked at the man, feeling the warmth grow inside of you. What was this feeling? You told yourself it was lust.

"Nah, maybe we should leave the striptease for another evening. I wanted to um... talk about what we spoke about earlier." You said, clearing your throat and trying to ignore the thoughts about how easy Mr. Fischbach was to talk to. How his laugh made you feel warm inside. How he made you feel safe.

It's just lust. It's just lust.

"Oh, oh yeah of course." He said, and scooted further back onto the desk.

"I want to figure out what's going on." You said simply.

"I had a feeling you would." He said, folding his arms. "But this is dangerous. Like dangerous dangerous. People have died."

"And I don't want it to happen again. Virgo left that note for someone to find. And I found it. Now I'm responsible."

"You're not responsible Y/N. She left that note as a warning not as an invitation to get involved with it all." He said. "I knew her. She wouldn't want you to suffer like she did."

"I'm stronger than her."

"You didn't know her." He seemed slightly irritated at this assumption.

"But I know I am." You said defiantly. "I have to do this. And you could help me."

He scooted off of the desk and looked down at you with a conflicted expression. "Ok. I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to convince you to leave this alone so..." he sighed. "Please keep me updated. If there's anything I can do just let me know. And before you do anything crass, let me know before you do it."

You nodded. "Thank you Mark." You said. It felt weird saying his first name but appropriate right now.

Mark looked at his watch and then back at you. He paused for a moment, then spoke. "I um... I was going to get dinner at this diner not far from here."

"That's nice." You said with a smile.

He smiled back. "Wanna come with me?"

"Are you asking me out?"

He laughed. "And you said I'm stupid."
