they reached minho's apartment fairly quickly and jisung let out a sigh of relief as they entered the quiet space.
as minho placed the food down on the coffee table, he set about turning on the lamps as he never used the main light.
a pretty orange hue lit the room and jisung gazed around in awe. it was not what he expected at all.
there was a small entrance way with a shoe rack, that jisung placed his converse in before stepping into the main area, and as you stepped in, you faced the living room with a balcony.
there was a small, round, white rug that lay under a wooden coffee table which held an old record player, many records stacked up next to it. another wooden table held the tv and shelves with cds and little plants sat above. a brown loveseat was facing the tv and hanging plants decorated the ceilings while potted ones sat in corners and on tables.
the kitchen and diner was just behind the living room. the kitchen was small, but perfectly comfortable, with wooden cabinets and a small island with stools in the middle.
in the empty space next to the kitchen was a medium sized table and four chairs sat around it. a vase was placed in the middle with a cluster of flowers.
jisung gasped a little when he felt something soft brush against his leg. he looked down to find an orange cat with a white little nose snuggling against his leg.
"oh, i see you found soonie." minho laughed as he approached jisung only to crouch down to pet the cat.
"c-cu-cute." jisung spoke softly.
"isn't he just?" minho said with such love in his eyes as he pet the animal, "you can stroke him, just hold your hand out near his nose and if he likes you, he'll butt his head against your hand." the older scratched behind soonie's ears making the cat let out a purr.
jisung crouched in front of the cat and held out his hand as minho had demonstrated. soonie sniffed him for a second before pressing his head into the younger's hand.
jisung's whole face lit up like a lightbulb and he gasped, letting out little giggles as he stroked the cat.
"want to see the other two?" minho grinned as he saw jisung's eyes sparkle at the mention of two more cats.
it was only now that jisung noticed the cat tree by the sliding door to the balcony and the many cat toys under the coffee table, as well as the feeding bowls in the kitchen.
"they like to sleep in their cat beds in my room, so they're probably there." minho spoke as he stood up calling out their names and disappearing into another room.
as he was looking for them, jisung had found a cat toy. it was a stick with a string and a little toy mouse on the end.
he gently swung it around, watching in delight as soonie chased it and clawed at it, trying to chew it when he'd gripped it.
a moment later, minho came back with two other cats. one in his arms and one on his shoulder, hence his slightly hunched posture.
jisung giggled as he looked at him and minho couldn't help but laugh with him.
he was beyond happy that jisung was already feeling better and even giggling, which had to be minho's favourite sound his ears had ever been blessed with. his laugh was so joyous and contagious that minho couldn't help but smile whenever he did.
the cats jumped down from minho's hold and immediately went to play with their older brother, chasing and jumping after the toy mouse.
"the grey one is dori, he's the youngest, and the other orange one is doongie, he's the middle child, so that makes soonie the oldest." minho smiled softly, his gaze leaving his beloved cats and going to land on his beloved boy.
"c-cute." jisung stopped playing with them and used the same technique as he used on soonie to let the others get used to him. much like soonie, the other two gratefully accepted him and dori even climbed into his lap.
"wah!" jisung exclaimed happily. he didn't think he'd ever smiled so wide in his life. his cheeks hurt.
"oh, they love you, darling." minho gently scratched dori's chin who made himself comfy on the younger's lap.
"you're not allowed to get up now, that's the law if a cat's sitting on you." the older laughed.
"o-oh, b-but i-i w-would l-li-like t-to e-eat, pl-plea-ease." jisung lightly pouted, his speech slow and unstable.
"it's okay, i know how to get him off if you want to stand up." jisung nodded and minho made his way to the cupboard, all three cats immediately bounding over to him, meowing and clawing at his legs.
"it's feeding time around now anyway." minho smiled softly as he watched jisung's wide eyes sparkle in awe at the cute cats staring up at minho anticipating the food that was eventually set in front of them.
"c'mon, let's eat our own food, hm?" minho held out his hand and jisung took it shyly, pulling himself up.
they didn't sit at the dining table, instead, they sat on the couch, the gentle rain tapping against the windows as the ambient light set a comforting mood. minho's small chatter about random things made jisung smile softly, letting the occasional laugh slip through his lips causing minho's breath to hitch.
somehow, after a while, they ended up asleep in minho's bed, the cats curled up together in one cat bed, although they all had their own, and minho and jisung tangled together underneath the sheets being lulled to sleep by the rain.
