Chapter 2 : The Conflicts

Back in Hedgehog Village, Amy opens her kitchen window while whistling to herself. She zips around from counter to counter as she counts the ingredients she had set aside for today's baking.

"Flour, check. Sugar, check. Eggs, check…" Amy says to herself. She pauses and looks at the items in front of her, sliding bags and boxes out of the way as she finds the ingredient she thought she was missing. Upon further inspection, the hedgehog notices that the small bottle in her hand is almost empty.

"Looks like I forgot to pick up more vanilla extract." Amy sighs and turns to look at the small clock perched on the counter behind her.

"I've got time before Sonic gets here. I'll go run to the market and pick some up." Amy reasons.

Amy sets down the half empty vile and strides out of the kitchen into the living room. She walks over to a small table by the door, grabs her wallet off the tabletop, and walks out the door.

As Amy strolled through town, she passes Meh Burger, where Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks were eating and chatting. The fact that Sonic wasn't with the others surprised her.

"If he isn't in town, then he's probably on a run. And knowing him, he'll lose track of time and forget all about our plans." Amy thought. "I should probably ask Tails if Sonic told him where he was going today."

"Is caramel pronounced car-a-mel, or car-ml?" Knuckles asks while reading the wrapper of a candy bar.

"Well, it's spelled car-a-mel…" Tails explains, but is quickly interrupted by Sticks.

"That's what they want ya to think! The government is covertly changing the pronunciation in dictionaries while we sleep!" Sticks rambles. Tails takes a sip of his drink and looks at Sticks with a dry expression.

"You do know that they come out with new dictionaries every other year, right?" Tails asks. Sticks looks at the fox in bewilderment.

"THEY WHAT!?" Sticks stands up from her spot at the table and continues to rant her paranoid rants, making aggressive hand gestures to emphasize her points. Tails just unenthusiastically rests his face in his palms as Knuckles continues to study the candy wrapper.

"I think it's pronounced Carmen…" Knuckles says. Amy decides she has seen enough and walks over to her friends. Sticks stops her rambling as she sees Amy approaching.

"Hey guys, do you know where Sonic is?" Amy asks.

"He left earlier this morning, probably out exploring." Tails responds, not worried in the slightest. Sonic always goes out on his own without anyone's knowledge of where, so Tails is used to it. Amy on the other hand doesn't like the mysteriousness and gets up Sonic's quills about it.

"He better be back soon, because we made plans. If he's late again, I'm gonna have to give him a piece of my mind!" Amy complains.

"I'm afraid that Sonic isn't going to be coming back any time soon, or ever!" A voice booms in the distance. Obliterator bot rolls onto the screen, smashing shacks and buildings as he makes it to the center of town. The villagers all run out into the streets and out of the robot's path. The gang lay eyes on this and see Eggman not too far behind in his eggmobile. Eggman hovers over them, obviously about to gloat like he always does.
