Not Yet

Y/N sighs, her leg moving up and down in the small plastic chairs they were given as crowds of people sat and talked right above them. Her nerves about the event were starting to get to her, the idea of failing in front of everyone making her want to puke. Some of her other classmates were in the same boat, small trembles or an occasional twitch giving them away as the others conversed lightly. Today was their day, the one they had been training hard for the past few weeks. It was the day of the Sports Festival, when pros would watch and even potentially scout them to their agencies. 

"Y/N, how excited are you! Were gonna be in front of pros" Ururaka, bubbly as always sat besides the girl, a comforting smile on her face as she looked at the panicking girl. She reached for her hand, the act calming Y/N down a bit as she met her e/c eyes with her friends brown.

"I... I'm gonna be honest Ochako, I'm terrified." she smiled wobbily, glancing back down at their hands as her leg bounced up and down. 

"I just... I mean what if I totally blow my chances of ever being a hero at this festival? I wouldn't ever go outside again, or see you guys or even want to breathe in people's presence."

"Ah. I get you Y/N. And, I just wanna say... I'm scared too. But we need to act brave okay? If we don't, then why are we even here?", Her words made the H/C girl look back up into her brown eyes, "Plus, I wanna say that I think you were super brave trying to save Bakugo during the villain attack, so I know you're capable. Be the girl who saves people, even though you're scared." 

Y/N sat there for a moment, a bashful and surprised look on her face for a moment before her thoughts were broken up by a deep voice rattling across the room, making it go silent as all eyes turned to the center table.

"Midoriya." Todoroki approached Midoriya's sitting form, his nervous form steeling under the dual boys gaze.

"Todoroki? What is it?" He met the boys gaze, swallowing his nerves in front of his classmates as they looked on.

"Objectively speaking, I think that I'm stronger than you"

"Huh?..."

Everyone held confused faces, glancing at each other before looking back to the tension filled boys.

"Y.. yeah.."

"But .. All Might has his eyes on you, doesn't he?"

Y/N's eyes widened, glancing between the two before looking at Bakugo, having heard all about their (most definitely) one sided childhood rivalry. But she was a little shocked to see that he looked just as, and even a little bit more confused than everybody else. Midoriya  looked shocked even.

"I'm not going to pry about that. But–  I am going to beat you." Todoroki continued on in his monotone voice.

"Oh? Is the best in class making a declaration of war?" Kaminari spoke through the tension, Kirishima standing and going to approach the two.

"Hey, Hey! Why are we trying to pick a fight all of a sudden?" Kirishima spoke as he took Todoroki's shoulder in his hand. "We shouldn't start that now, not when we're about to start!"

"Were not here to play friends" Todoroki pushed the red head away from him, beginning to walk away, "So what does it matter?"

"Todoroki, I don't know what you're thinking when you say you'll beat me, but of course you are better than me. I think you're more capable than most people... putting it in perspective.."

"Aaaand we're talking negatively now..." Y/N huffed as she watched the two boys stare each other down like they were in a romance movie.

"But, everyone- even those in other classes are aiming for the top with everything they got! I can't afford to fall behind now." Midoriya looked straight into his classmates eyes, "I'll be going with everything I got too."
