Veer B.
18 years oldI wear my green kurta and head downstairs to help Vijender bhaiya in the preparations.
"Haath phair jaldi chalao. Aaj hi hai Pooja, ek saal baad nahi" I shout while myself helping them decorate. I hate people who are slow and lazy.
I see her running down the stairs with Jhanvi, giggling. She is wearing the suit which I chose for her. My Tara always looks beautiful.
"Aaram se" I say standing straight and they halt in their tracks. They both start whispering something to each other and Tara shows Jhanvi her eyes. It makes me angry that she barely looks at me.
"Kya ho raha hai?"
"Kuch nahi bhaiya wo Tara Bhabhi kuch bolna chahti thi apse" she says.
"Tara?" I ask my Tara.
"Ji wo wo.."
"Bolo bhabhi" Jhanvi says slightly pushing her in my direction. "Haan Ma aayi" Jhanvi says to the air and runs away. I go stand in front of her. She comes up to my chest. She is again looking down while fidgeting with her dupatta. I clutch my fingers to control myself from lashing out on her. Why can't she look at me?
"Jaldi bolo Tara. Kya hua hai?"
"Ji wo um ji"
"Issi par tumhari sui atak gyi hai shyd. Aage bolo"
"Ji aap kh.. kha.."
"Kya kha? Bolo"
"Aap Aap khana khaoge?" She says in one go.
"Yahi bolna tha tumhe?"
She nods.
"Mene khana kha liya hai. Tumne khaya?"
She nods again.
"Kitni baar bola hai Tara dhang se bola karo. Samajh nahi aata hai kya?"
"Ji"
"Accha suno" I say as she is about to leave. "Yeh lo aur humare kamre mei rakh do"
I give her my gold chain. I keep it in her hand, our fingers slightly brushing.
"Ji" she takes it nodding and goes to my room. I look at her disappearing figure. When she is with me it's hard to see her face and expression. I have seen her laughing, getting angry on others, but never with me.
"Veer Bhaiya" Daksh says coming behind me. He is just an year younger than me.
"Kya hai?" I ask in my usual tone. I am not in a mood for his bullshit.
"Mene dekha Tara Bhabhi aapke kamre mei gayi hai"
"Toh?" I say getting back to my work.
"Waise toh aap kisi ko ghusne bhi nahi dete apne kamre mei. Badi Ma ko bhi nahi. Aur ab Tara bhabhi..."
"Tu Bakar bakar bohot karta hai. Zubaan kam chalaya kar aur kaam zyada Kara kar" I say. Well nobody is allowed in my room except my Tara. Atlast it is her room also. And whatever belongs to me belongs to my Tara.
"Kya bhaiya. Kabhi Hume bhi apne kamre ke darshan Kara do"
I turn to look at him keeping my normal face.
"Aree bhaiya mein toh mazak Kar raha tha. Aap toh gussa ho Gaye." He says laughing nervously and runs away.
Mene gussa Kab kia?
People are just afraid of my normal face. Well it works in my favour.
After everything is done, our family members arrive for the Pooja.
"Tara, Veer ke paas baitho" Amma says.
"Ji Amma" she says and walks meekly towards me. I definitely know that she acts like this only in front of me. I have heard her shouting at Amit from her house.
The whole event just goes by as I am too busy looking at my to-be wife. She has her eyes closed and seems like she is asking something from Bhagwaan ji as she is making some cute expressions. I continue to stare at her throughout the event. I don't care if anybody else sees me, I have every right to watch her and I don't care what someone else thinks.
Once the Pooja is done, she and the other kids decide to go in Asha bhabhi's room. Probably to play something. As she walks inside the room, my gaze follows her. I know she subtly looks behind to know if I am there and knowing I am, she immediately turns her face forward.
"Veer" I hear Vijender bhaiya say my name breaking my train of thoughts. Vijender bhaiya is my older step brother. Papa married my mother when Vijender bhaiya's mother died. Even though we are step brothers, he treated me and Sanjay like real brothers so I respect him a lot.
"Ji bhaiya"
"Adde par chalna hai taiyaar hojao"
"Abhi aaya bhaiya" I say and go to my room to change. Entering my room I see her and mine photo together hanging on the wall. I still remember once I got the bike, she was the first person who sat on it. From there I took her to the photo booth and asked the damn photographer to take our photos.
Kitni pyaari lag rahi hai meri Tara
Just 2 more years then she will be completely mine.
