3rd Pov
"Tara!" Veer again says her name, urging her to speak up.
"Wo.. wo..." Tara not able to control her tears anymore starts to cry. Veer immediately loosens the grip from her bicep and pulls her in a hug.
"Bata Tara" this time he says a bit softly while patting her head. She holds him tightly while crying.
"Ma.. ma ji.. kehti hai" She says sobbing "wo bolti hai ki mein banjh hoon abhi tak pett se nahi ho payi. Ki mein aapke layak nahi hoon"
Veer immediately breaks off the hug and runs downstairs shouting "Ma! Ma!"
Tara also follows him as she knows he is going to create some drama. When Veer reaches the hall, Veer's mother arrives.
Tara holds Veer's bicep urging him to stop.
"Rehne dijiye na. Koi badi baat nahi hui"
"Tara dubara aisa na ho isiliye baat Kar raha hoon" he says looking at her and then looks at his mother with eyes full of anger.
"Apne Tara ko kya kaha?" he says almost shouting.
"Mene kya kaha? Mein keh hi kya sakti hoon" She says acting innocent.
Due to commotion, everyone comes to the hall.
"Ab kya hogaya" Sanjay whispers to Daksh.
"Tu chup chap dekh" Daksh whispers back.
"Haan. Veer bhaiya ki shakal dekho aisa lag raha hai jaise abhi kisi ko ghaad dege" Jhanvi joins in the whispering.
"Aapki zubaan par koi lagam hai bhi ya nahi!"
"Veer tameez se" Vijender comes and stands on his other side.
"Kya tameez bhaiya? Inhone Tameez ki thi jab meri biwi ko banjh bola tha"
"Ma?" Vijender looks at her with questioning look. His mother looks away still feigning innocence.
"Beti ki tarah rakhti hoon isse mein. Pata nahi kyu tere kaan bhar rahi hai Veer" she says
"Beti ki tarah?" He says shouting. "Bawlibooch kisi aur ko hi bannana"
"Ab apni patni ke liye apni ma se aisa bolega" she says shedding crocodile tears. But they had no effect on Veer. He knows she did the same drama with Vijender. He's not going to be fooled by her tactics.
"Haan bas yeh karlo ab"
"Veer! Ma hai tumhari"
"Toh mene Kab mana Kara. Aur theek hai aur badhawa dijiye inki harkato ko. Mujhse toh nahi hoga. Aur na mein apni patni ke saath hone dunga. Rahiye apne ghar mei" Veer says and is about to climb the stairs when Bade Thakur comes in.
"Veerbhadra!" He says in calm tone. Asha and Tara immediately do their ghunghats.
Veer turns to look at his father, looking straight into his eyes. He never did that out of respect but today he was ready to fight.
"Idhar aao"
"Papa-"
"Veerbhadra idhar aao" he calls him calmly. He knows how to handle Veer in these kind of situations. Well he is the only one who can.
Veer decides to go to him, standing tall.
"Kya hua hai?"
"Inhi se poochiye" Veer replies pointing towards his mother. Bade Thakur turns to her.
"Sach Sach Bata kya hua hai?" He again asks but this time to his wife. He knows about her nature and habits that's why he focused on the truth part.
"Dekhiye mene kya hi galat bola banjh ko banjh nahi kahugi toh kya kahugi-"
"Ma!" Veer shouts.
"Lalita tameez se" Bade Thakur warns her.
"Mein keh rahi thi ki Veer ki dusri shaadi hi Kara dete hai" She says.
"Meri laash bhi na kare dusri shaadi"
"Hai kya isme? Baccha toh de pa nahi rahi hai yeh"
"Sab kuch! Aur kaan khol ke sunn lo abhi baccha na karne ka faisla mera hai aaj ke baad kisine bhi Tara ko bola toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. Aur agar kisi ko koi dikkat hai toh mein aur meri biwi yaha nahi rahege"
"Veerbhadra" Bade Thakur comes forward putting his hand on Veer's shoulder. "Kahi Jane ki koi zaroorat nahi. Koi kuch nahi kahega Tara bahu ko. Meri zubaan hai."
"Par mene kuch-" she says
"Lalita!" Bade Thakur looks at her and she closes her mouth.
"Tum kamre mei jao, mein dekhta hoon" he says to Veer.
"Par papa"
"Jao Veerbhadra"
"Sirf iss baar papa" he says and taking Tara's hand start climbing the stairs.
"Aur Veerbhadra"
Veer stops in his tracks and says "Haan papa"
"Parivaar saath hi accha lagta hai. Tukdo mei nahi"
"Ji" Veer nods and goes to his room. Veer was assured by his father's words as he has never backed down from his statements. He always fulfilled what he said. So his words mattered a lot. He believed in his father.
As he closed the door, Tara looked at him baffled.
"Yeh kya kia aapne?" She asks.
"Jo mujhe karna chahiye Tha. Jo zaroori tha"
"Yeh kalesh karna zaroori tha?"
"Haan" Veer replies.
"Aur kitne kalesh karege aap?" She asks feeling pissed for the first time. "Mere muh Par toh sirf Ma ji bolti hai, peeth peeche najane kitne log hoge"
"Toh unse kalesh thodi karuga. Unke toh muh hi bandh karwa dunga" he says coming closer to her.
"Kaise?" She says not backing down.
"Jab log hi nahi rahege toh wo bolege kaise?" He states.
"Aap abhi bhi nahi samajh rahe hai."
"Kya?"
"Mujhe baccha chahiye"
"Ma ki wajah se-"
"Unki wajah se ya kisi aur ki wajah se nahi. Mujhe humara baccha chahiye. Mein bhi ma bannana chahti hoon"
"Tara"
"Hogya Tara ka" she says and lays down on the bed closing her eyes. He also lays down pissed, maintaining a good distance between them, keeping his hand on his eyes.
They both lay there in silence, not able to sleep. Removing his hand, Veer looked at Tara who was pretending to sleep. Feeling his eyes on her, she turned her back to him. Veer sighed and then stared at the Terrace.
He loved Tara too much. He hated when anything caused her pain. He wanted to end that problem from the root. But the person hurting her was his own mother. He can only say things to her, at best maintain his distance from her. Nothing more than that as at the end of the day she was his mother after all.
But what he really forgot is that a mother's biggest pain is being away from her child.
He again looked at Tara and moved closer to her. Keeping his hand on her waist, he pulled her closer to him, spooning her.
"Theek hai Tara. Jaisa tum chaho" he whispers in her ears, closing his eyes. He can never be angry with his Tara.
