Days had passed, and although Seokjin was still adjusting to life with Taehyung again, things seemed to be stabilizing. He was trying to relearn trust, forcing himself to believe in Taehyung's promises despite the lingering doubt that gnawed at the back of his mind. The chaos outside their world-the media, the flashing cameras, the fans-hadn't slowed down, but Seokjin had been pleasantly surprised to see positive reactions mixed in with the expected scrutiny. The world was shifting, and many fans were supportive of them coming out publicly as a couple.
Still, not everything was perfect. Taehyung was understanding most of the time, giving Seokjin the space he needed to rebuild their relationship, but there were moments when Taehyung's patience ran thin. He could be pushy, insisting that they move on faster, pushing for more intimacy or public displays of affection when Seokjin wasn't always ready.
Today, Taehyung was out performing at an event, and Seokjin found solace in the quiet apartment. He was on the phone with Yoongi, feeling a rare sense of excitement as they discussed a new project proposal for a film. The idea was fresh, something Seokjin could sink his teeth into after the turbulence of the last few weeks.
"This project sounds like exactly what I need," Seokjin said, pacing the living room. "Something different. Something that lets me focus on acting again."
Yoongi chuckled on the other end. "It'll be good for you. I think this could really be a game-changer, and the team they're assembling looks solid."
As they continued talking, the doorbell rang, cutting through the calmness of the moment. Seokjin frowned, not expecting anyone. He told Yoongi he'd call him back and hung up, heading toward the door. When he opened it, his breath caught in his throat.
Jennie.
She stood there, dressed sharply, her expression calm and confident. There was no trace of apology in her demeanor-no sign that she regretted her role in the affair that had nearly destroyed Seokjin and Taehyung's relationship.
"What are you doing here?" Seokjin asked, his voice tight, gripping the door as if ready to slam it shut. He could already feel the tension creeping back into his body.
Jennie didn't flinch. "Can I come in? We need to talk."
Seokjin shook his head firmly. "No. I don't want you in here. There's nothing to talk about."
Jennie raised an eyebrow, unfazed by his cold reception. She leaned against the doorframe, her presence bold and unapologetic. "Look, Seokjin, I didn't come here to make things worse. I came to explain."
"I don't care about your explanations, Jennie. What happened is over. Just leave."
Jennie crossed her arms, clearly not planning to leave so easily. "You should hear me out. I'm not here to apologize or beg for forgiveness. But you should be expecting something tonight-something that's going to change things."
Seokjin's heart skipped a beat, and a sense of dread settled over him. "What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice guarded.
She smirked, stepping closer but still respecting the threshold. "Let's just say... the past doesn't stay buried for long. You and Taehyung should have been more careful. And I'm not the only one who's got dirt. People like to talk."
Seokjin's chest tightened. He knew the public world they lived in could turn ugly in an instant, but hearing it from Jennie made it feel all the more real. "What are you planning?" he demanded, his patience wearing thin.
Jennie tilted her head, her eyes sharp and calculating. "You'll see soon enough. I just thought I'd give you a heads-up. You know, out of... courtesy."
Seokjin's jaw clenched. He didn't trust her-how could he?-but the ominous tone in her voice sent a chill down his spine. Whatever Jennie was planning, it was bad news, and he didn't want to be blindsided by it.
