“What are you doing here?” I ask Rudraksh, who’s sitting far too comfortably across the breakfast island, casually as if he owns the place.

He points at his light yellow kurta, now covered in ‘haldi’ smears and muddy splatters, before speaking. “I need to clean this. Also, what happened back there, you—"

But before he can finish his sentence, Simba, my tiny but fierce ball of fur, erupts into a fit of barking. He bounces on his paws, eyes locked on Rudraksh as if the man is a burglar instead of a guest.

"What's wrong with you, baby?" I ask, crouching down and giving Simba a concerned look. But Simba keeps barking, not even sparing me a glance, his gaze fixed firmly on Rudraksh. His chest is puffed out, and honestly, it's kind of hilarious seeing a six-foot guy so unsettled by a dog that’s barely two feet tall.

I frown, puzzled by Simba’s hostility, before turning back to Rudraksh. "Uh, you can wash your kurta here,” I say, pointing toward the wash basin next to me.

Rudraksh stands up as if to make his way over, but Simba starts barking again, this time louder and more determined, marching toward Rudraksh with all the ferocity of a guard dog.

Rudraksh, sits back down in a hurry. The scene is so ridiculous I can’t help it, I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach as Simba continues to boss around this towering man like he's the size of a teacup.

Rudraksh glares at me, his eyes are tinged with uncertainty. “Is this little dictator always this charming?”

Still laughing, I shake my head, wiping away a tear. “Only when he senses danger.” I pause for dramatic effect, giving Rudraksh a once-over. “And right now, that’s clearly you.”
