~Just Married~
Vivaah sampaan hua," Pandit-ji announces, his voice resonating through the hall with the finality of a sacred ritual completed.
The look on both bhai and bhabhi's faces is priceless. There's a soft glow of pure happiness radiating between them as they sit together, hands entwined like they're the only two people in the room. Their smiles are effortless, eyes locked in a silent conversation that only they understand. It's as if the world around them has faded, leaving just the two of them bathed in the warm, golden light of their love.
Bhai stands up first, gently helping Bhabhi to her feet. They move gracefully towards Bhabhi's parents to take blessings. They then turn towards Ayush Bhai's parents, heads bowed with reverence and gratitude.
But my attention is pulled in a different direction. Something doesn't add up. I glance at Bhai's shoes, still placed neatly where he left them before sitting down for the 'pheras'. Strange. By now, those shoes should have been long gone, hidden away by the bride's team as part of the traditional 'Joota-Chupai' rasam.
I shoot a questioning look at Alia and Agastya, who are also scanning the scene with equal curiosity. They silently ask me with their eyes if the bride's team is planning to steal the shoes or not. I shrug in response, still unsure.
But my eyes is on someone else, as she came into my view, my breath caught in my throat. The soft blush hue of her lehenga shimmered under the lights, each sequin and bead reflecting just enough to make her seem almost ethereal. The intricate floral embroidery hugged her waist, leading down to a flowing skirt that moved with her, like she was gliding rather than walking.
