Miraculous with a Side of Kai

Chapter 9

“ The stone beings are scattered all over Paris and for the time being are showing no signs of movement, ” The Newslady said as Marinette watched the TV in the living room, a look of guilt on his face, some bags under his eyes from a lack of sleep. “ Police have cordoned off the area. ”

The TV then changed to show the Mayor speaking to the press. “ We won’t stop until we find a way to get these people back to their normal selves, ” He promised with a police officer right behind him who Marinette recognized as Roger Raincomprix, Sabrina’s Dad, his arm in a sling as his orange hair was covered by his hat. “ But for now, we’re not making much headway. ”

It went back to the Newslady, only for a picture of Ladybug, Chatte Noire and Aki to pop up, Marinette staring at her alter ego for a split second before looking down in shame. “ Paris is relying on our new guardian angels Ladybug, Chatte Noire and Aki to save us all, our lives depend on them. ”

‘ You mean on Chatte Noire and Aki. ’ Marinette thought bitterly, slowly stirring her bowl of cereal with her spoon.

Yet she couldn’t help but feel the guilt boiling in her gut as she thought back to the earrings that were in her room that gave her, her powers.

‘ Stop, you’re not the right person. ’ Marinette told herself, trying to think of who she knew that would be better and one person came to mind.

Alya.

Alya was brave, good-natured and willing to stand up for others, that was the impression she got from the other day.

She even chased after Stoneheart on a bike without powers showing a drive.

She would make a much better hero then him.

All she would do was slow Chatte Noire and Aki down.

Then their was Kai...he was the one who knows her alter ego, he was theo he who will likely help those in need and Marinette was sure he would accept and help Paris.

Seeing her downcasted expression, Tom spoke up, placing a hand on her shoulder, making Marinette jump. “Listen, I know how upsetting and scary this is, but don’t worry, we’ve got three superheroes looking out for Paris and the best way to help them is to show that we’re not scared. Because we trust them.”

All that did was make Marinette feel worse as so many people were looking up to her and not even realizing it.

And trust? It was her fault this happened, no one should trust her after that.

“What if Ladybug fails?” Marinette whispered without even realizing it.

Seeing her face, Tom faltered before grinning as he grabbed a loaf of bread from the table and held it like a sword. “Then I’ll protect our family, Super Baker to the rescue!”

Just seeing that was enough for Marinette to let out a laugh due to how random it was, feeling a bit better, making Tom smile at seeing it worked.

“Thanks Super Dad.” Marinette played along with it, giving him a short hug before she left to get her stuff for school.

Oddly enough they were still going to school after what happened the other day, but Marinette figured they were trying to have a sense of normalcy showing to keep people from being scared.

Once in her room, Marinette grabbed her bag and her sketchbook, but stopped when she glanced at his desk drawer where she hid the Ladybug Earrings.
