"Come on, Eunji, let's go!" Eunha grabbed Eunji's arm, practically dragging her toward the entrance of the mall.
Eunji rolled her eyes. "Why are we even here? You don't even know him. What if he's some creepy old guy?"
Eunha laughed, "He's not like that, I promise. Besides, I just want to get him something nice for helping me out."
"Yeah, because that's what people do for strangers they've never met in real life," Eunji muttered sarcastically, glancing around at the bustling crowd. "Seriously, Eunha, this is borderline stalker behavior."
Eunha pouted, tugging on Eunji's arm again. "I told you, he's not a stranger! We talk every day. He sent me a cab when I was in the middle of somewhere, and I feel like I owe him something."
"Fine, fine. But if he turns out to be a middle-aged man, I'm running," Eunji teased.
Eunha chuckled, her excitement bubbling over as they stepped into the first store.
"Eunha, are you seriously buying a watch?" Eunji muttered, crossing her arms as she watched Eunha eagerly scan the options.
Eunha nodded, a determined look on her face. "Yeah, I just... I want to get him something meaningful, you know?"
Eunha ignored her teasing, picking up the watch from the display. It was simple, but elegant, and something about it just felt right. She could imagine Niki wearing it, even if she didn't know exactly what he looked like.
Eunji leaned in closer, eyeing the price tag. "Uh, Eunha, do you even have the money for that?"
Eunha hesitated, biting her lip as she glanced at the price. It was definitely more than she had planned to spend. But then she thought about everything Niki had done for her, how he'd sent that cab without a second thought, how he was always there to listen when she needed to talk.
"I'll figure it out," she said quietly.
Eunji shook her head in disbelief. "Girl, you're crazy. But whatever. It's your money."
Eunha smiled, grateful that Eunji hadn't pushed any further. The truth was, Niki had become something of a lifeline for her. He didn't know about her mom or her home life, but he was always there when she needed an escape from it all. Buying him a watch felt like the least she could do to thank him.
Eunha turned to Eunji, a small smile on her face. "I want it to be something memorable, okay? And it's not just about the watch; it's about the thought behind it. Plus, the keychain matches—it's cute."
Eunji rolled her eyes. "Cute? It's money-draining, that's what it is," she scoffed.
