Slamming my book closed I look up as a guard shoves his way past the prisoners who are still around my doorway.

"Move it! Let me through!" They call

It's a guard I've not seen before.

I place the book on the floor as I push myself up, it wasn't great anyway. It recommended ways to attract the male gaze, but unfortunately I already have plenty of that.

"Miss Lucas, your lunch" The guard says as he pushes the tray through the hatch in my door, one that I've noticed non of the other cells have. I guess they don't need their meals passed to them when they can move about to the cafeteria freely without having to worry about being cornered and beaten or raped.

"What is it?" I ask as I take it from him

"Fish and chips" he says as he fights to do the lach of my meal door closed again with the people pushing him

"Looks like shit and more shit to me" I say as I push it around with my fork

"Sorry, miss, it's all we got around here" he says

I give him a nod as he walks away- the man seems sweet enough, unlike that other guard.

I decide to take a forkful of it after a while of debating and the texture of the fish causes me to spit it back out again

"You need some salt hunny? I can make that happen" one of the men outside my cell shouts as the others all cheer

"Disgusting" I whisper to myself as I push the tray away

"Eat up Darling, I slipped something special into your peas for you. The guard didn't keep a great eye on your food when it was just sat there waiting to be messed with" One of the guys says

At that I kick the tray even further away and use my uniforms sleeve to wipe my tongue.

"Hey? Is that any way to talk to a lady?" Someone says

I look up as I see a man with straight hair and a pointy noise walk up to the guy who asked me to hold his pocket earlier.

They stay right by my cell gate and I sit back as I watch my own personal entertainment unfold as they are clearly not friends.

Before anything can happen, however, the lunch bell rings and most of the convicts rush away from the cell to be the first ones in line for food.

The two men huff and give each other a stare before they walk off and follow the rest.

I sit and read my boring book for a while, well I make it look like I am. I've actually just been rereading the same line over and over again.

I look up with a smile as I notice that there is not one inmate standing outside of my cell anymore as they all must have gone for dinner, seeing me as boring.

I smile as I stand up with a stretch and toss my book to the side.

I take the opportunity to sit close to the bars of the cell and have a look around.

Across the way is another line of cells and one even holds a cat bed.

I smile at the thought of when I used to own a cat, but the thought quickly leaves when I hear someone clear their throat.

I move away from the cell slightly

"You mind if I sit?" They ask

I look up and see a man with a muscular build and a shaved head.

Considering that he actually asked me permission, I nod and he sits down against the bars that I am sat against.

He has his back to me.

"you much for a story?" He asks me

I raise my eyebrow before realising that he can't see it

"Why? You going to bore me to death to try to get me to leave my cell quicker?" I ask with a smile

He laughs with a shake of his head

"No, I figured you could use some distraction from you being everyone else's entertainment"

I think about it before I tell him to go ahead.

I catch a glimpse of his eyes before he starts to speak. His words go over my head but the way his tattoos poke from under his shirt doesn't escape my gaze.
