This book is turning into a novel and I'm kinda here for it.
IF FOUND ON ANY...
The next day I solemnly make the trip to Popes office. I had been woken up and dragged out of bed to see him on his request.
Why did he want to see me? As much as I want to kid myself and say that he is just missing me, I don't think that's the reason why. Unfortunately,I was pretty sure it was to do with him figuring out I used his computer.
I stop by the door as I get my handcuffs removed and I knock on it.
I step inside, after he shouts for me to come in, and I close the door behind myself.
"Take a seat" he says
His tone is different. It's not the slightly joking or cheerful tone I'm used to- instead it seems all too serious.
I must really be getting in trouble for this.
"Do you know why you're here?" He asks
That's a trick question I think.
"No? But if it's anything to do with your computer then-"
"My computer?" He asks
I clamp my mouth shut.
I knew it was a trick question yet I still fell for it- God damn it Lucas
"What did you do to my computer?" He asks
"Nothing" I say all too quickly
"Lucas you've got ten seconds-"
"Fine! I used it to look up what the words in my file meant. I ain't good at words" I admit as I cross my arms
He looks to me and then to his computer before he writes something down
"You're not writing an order for them to send me to the shu are you?" I ask as I lean forward, slightly panicking
"Unfortunately not" he mumbles before showing me the paper
To do: . Change computer password
It reads
I try to hold back a laugh but it just comes out the corners of my mouth
"It wasn't very secure to begin with" I say
"It was! It took me hours to come up with that" he says in annoyance
My laughter turns into just a smile as I sit back
"Anyway that's not why you're here" he says
"Oh? And what am I here for then?" I ask
I glance at my nail and I see that one is chipped, I start to bite at it as I half tune into what he says next
"The judge on your court case has been accused of swaying sentencing for cash. Every conviction within the last 6 months is being reviewed" he says
I glance at him as my hand falls from my face
"And?" I ask slightly confused
"And that means your case, Lucas" he says. He sees my blank face and sighs "you're getting a retrial"
I'm getting a retrial?!
