Phuwin knock brings Dunk back from his painful memories....
Phuwin knocked on Dunk's door, his voice gentle yet persistent. "Dunk, open up. It’s morning already. Are you okay?"
Inside, Dunk stirred, groggy from sleep and unsettled by the knock. He wasn’t ready to talk, but he also couldn’t bring himself to ignore Phuwin. His brother had always been so sweet, kind and supportive, and Dunk didn’t want to push him away.
Sometimes Dunk wants to open up but the walls he had built around himself by past traumas, makes it hard for him to open up. He feared that, what if Phuwin will also be disgusted with him. He never wanted to lose him.
Phuwin continued, his voice a soothing presence through the door. "Dunk, remember, you can always share things with me. I'm your brother, and I'm on your side. Whenever you're ready, I’m here for you."
Dunk opened the door.
Phuwin paused, then added with a chuckle, "Whenever you're ready, just know I'm here for you. Now, let's get some breakfast – you haven't eaten since yesterday. Oh, and warning: I cooked, so... no guarantees about the food's safety!"
Dunk felt a small smile tug at the corners of his mouth. Phuwin’s attempt to lighten the mood, without pressing him to open up, was exactly what he needed. He felt grateful that, despite his fears, he wasn’t alone.
"Hey, aren't you going to university today?" Dunk asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Actually, I was thinking of taking a day off," Phuwin replied with a grin. "How about we go on an outing instead? Just the two of us."
Dunk hesitated, unsure if he wanted to venture out. "I don't know...I'm not really comfortable in crowded places."
Phuwin's face lit up with excitement. "That's okay! I promise it'll be a quiet spot. Please don't ditch me, Dunk! I've cancelled all my plans to spend time with you."
Dunk knew Phuwin was trying to cheer him up, and he couldn't resist his brother's sweet efforts. "Okay, fine. Let's go."
Phuwin beamed with joy. "Really? You'll come with me? Thank you, Dunk!"
As they set out, Dunk asked, "So, where do you want to go?"
Phuwin thought for a moment. "Hmm, how about the park? It's usually quiet, and we can take a walk by the lake."
Dunk nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. "That sounds okay, I guess."
Phuwin smiled, understanding Dunk's limitations. "Don't worry, I'll make sure it's not too overwhelming. I just want to spend time with you, bro."
Phuwin had always noticed that Dunk found comfort in nature, seeking comfort from the serenity of his surroundings rather than the company of people. He often saw Dunk lost in thought, gazing out at the trees or watching the clouds drift lazily by. It was as if the natural world had a calming effect on his brother's troubled mind.
As they walked through the park, Phuwin made sure to keep the conversation light and easy, sensing that Dunk was still a bit fragile. They strolled along the winding path, taking in the vibrant colors of the flowers and the gentle lapping of the water against the shore.
Dunk breathed in deeply, feeling the fresh air fill his lungs. He closed his eyes, letting the warmth of the sun seep into his skin. For a moment, he forgot about his worries and let the peacefulness of nature envelop him.
Phuwin noticed the subtle change in Dunk's demeanor and smiled to himself. He knew that his brother was slowly opening up, like a flower blooming in the sun.
