Adam's POV
Over thirty years I have taken trips with my parents, moved to LA and seen every inch of it. I have traveled almost every single inch of this country. Even the fucking world. How have I not seen this guy!? For awhile neither of us said anything. We just stared and reexamined each other. I blinked a couple times to see if I'm dreaming. I most certainly am.
"So...who the fuck are you?" I asked finally.
"Who are you? And why do you have my face?" he asked me, messing with the small pendant around his neck.
"I don't have your face, it's my face. And I asked you first!" I am seriously tripping right now. Did someone slip something into my drink? Oh my God, WAS I FUCKING DRUGGED!?
"Elliot Grayson Munster. Alright, your turn." An involuntary giggle escaped my lips. Elliot? As in Elliot Gilbert my Glee character? And Munster? What is he, a horror show mascot?
"What are you laughing about?" he asked. I composed myself.
"Nothing. Adam Mitchel Lambert." I stuck out my hand. The tension in his face relaxed and shook it.
"Pleasure to meet you. Er...me." We both chuckled. He fiddled with the pendant again.
"So, um, I don't think the best idea is to spread the news about us until we know exactly what's going on. You want to grab coffee somewhere and talk about this?" He suggested. I nodded. Good idea. Somehow we left the bathroom without being seen together and I told the group I'm heading out. A lot of disappointed whines and groans but they hugged me goodbye and I left. Elliot was outside waiting for me. There was still a slight shock seeing my face on someone...well...not me.
"I saw a coffee shop coming here. C'mon let's go." We started walking but not even two seconds I saw paparazzi waiting for me. I pushed Elliot into and alley and I followed quickly. Thankfully they didn't see us.
"What the hell!?" I covered his mouth and shushed him. I looked and they still haven't seen us. I uncovered his mouth.
"Sorry. We just can't exactly be seen together." I explained.
"Why? It's not like you're-" he stopped mid sentence and looked at the paparazzi. He looked back at me with a "of course you are" face.
"You're famous?"
"Yes."
"Those guys are waiting for you?"
Yep."
"If they post a picture of us you'll have a million fans and reporters with questions?"
"Mm-hm."
"Exactly how famous are you?"
"I just released an album that is number three on the Billboard chart." He sighed and pulled a beanie out of his back pocket and shoved it down on my head.
"We'll take a back road." He started walking down the alley and I caught up walking beside him.
"You're not in a good mood are you?" I asked.
"I just found out I have a doppleganger in the bathroom of place I hate that has lead me down to an alley in LA at night to a coffee shop so my face doesn't get plastered all over the world because you are OF COURSE famous. What do you think?" I felt kind of bad. He must've been a normal guy who wanted a normal life but now got dragged in my crazy life. I decided to make small talk to ease the tension.
"What's a doppleganger?" I asked. He looked at me confused.
"You've never heard that term?" I nodded no.
"It's two people that look a like but aren't blood related. Like twins that weren't birthed by one mom. A lot of celebrities have one." I started to think about what he said. 'Twins that aren't related', that must be rare. I've always heard in news stories about long lost siblings and stuff like that. What if we aren't dopplegangers? I am a lot like my parents but what if that's just coincident? Are we long lost twins? Did my mom give birth to twins? Is he adopted? Am I adopted? It must of showed in my face my worry and overthinking because Elliot put a hand on my shoulder.
"We are not twins. My dad would have for sure told me that I was adopted or had a twin. Trust me." That helped me calm down. After a bit of silent walking we made it to a small coffee shop in town. Elliot opened the door.
"You're paying because you're the rich one." I chuckled and pulled out my wallet.
"I owe you that after the whole shoving thing." We both went up to the counter.
"What can I get you two?" Thankfully she didn't recognize me but she did notice the two exactly looking pair of men. I ordered a latte and Elliot just wanted hot chocolate. We both agreed on to go. I paid and we left.
"Let's just go to my place. It's not that far from here." Elliot said and we both started walking again.
"I don't know about you but I would like to know what my other self is doing." he said. I chuckled.
"Okay," I said, "Where do I start?..."
