"Love is like coffee—warm, comforting, and best enjoyed with a touch of sweetness."
Madison's POV
"I really don't know what I like to eat today," I muttered, folding my arms on the table as I stared blankly.
We were sitting in the cafeteria, trying to enjoy the calm before the storm of tomorrow's calculus exam. I'm so scared. I can't bear to fail the midterms 'cause my dad only has two allowances for failed marks and I had consumed them all.
"Kahit kagat ka lang sa sandwich ko," Mira offered, pushing her sandwich toward me. I smiled weakly but shook my head.
"Ilang araw ka na hindi kumakain, Madz. Mag-aalala sina Tita niyan," Gia chimed in, her voice laced with concern.
I know my parents are utterly worried, but wala ako sa mood alagan sarili ko. I feel guilty, pero ewan ko ba. It's as if the whole world is spinning out of control, and I'm caught in the middle, unsure of how to make it stop. Ang gulo.
"Baby, you're here!" Jade exclaimed, standing from her seat to greet the lady in pink. "Akala ko magtatampo ako sayo."
"Tigil-tigilan mo ako, Jade. Ang arte mo," Sam replied, earning a laugh from the table.
I jokingkly rolled my eyes.
Ugh, these two—always so over the top.
Just as Sam settled into the seat beside Jade, three more figures appeared behind her. Not surprisingly, Avery is with her.
"Siya nga pala," Sam started. "These are my friends. Avery, Sienna, and Colleen."
Colleen? Siya pala 'yun.
"It's nice to meet you," Gia said, extending her hand toward the girl with the headband. "I'm Gia."
Mira, Jade, and I simply exchanged knowing looks. Typical Gia—always drawn to the cute and charming ones.
"Ah, may pwesto sa harap ko, guys. Feel free lang," Mira offered warmly, gesturing to the two empty seats.
As Mira was already sitting to my left, the only vacant seats are the ones in front of us.
Perfect. Now I have to sit across from her.
