"I promise to be your shelter in the storm, always."

Madison's POV

My mind is a little sore from the conversation I had with Mom and Dad yesterday, but my body couldn't bear to rest. Why? Because I just received a message that this certain someone—let's call her Avery—is not feeling well.

Before anyone jumps into conclusions, no, I don't have a single care about her.

As I drove to her place, I noticed a charming little flower shop on the corner. The scent of fresh blooms walked through the open window, telling me to stop.

An old lady was waving to my car's window, so I couldn't hell but roll it down to meet her. She was wearing a floor-length dress with a couple of roses in her hands.

"Iha, bili ka na!" she called out, her voice warm and inviting. "Para sa boyfriend mo!"

Boyfriend? I'm offended.

I fished for my wallet before replying. "Can I have the tulips instead? My girlfriend doesn't like roses."

I lied. She loved roses.

"Ah gano'n ba, sorry iha pero naka-reserve na 'yan. Ito na lang mga rosas oh."

It seemed a shame to decline her offer, but  buying roses felt wrong.
