"Love blooms like flowers, delicate yet resilient, finding beauty in both the sun and the storm."
Madison's POV
"Grabe, 'yung kaba ko aabot hanggang impyerno," Jade blurted out as her butt can't sit still.
Today is the day we have been waiting for—moment of truth. The test scores for the calculus midterms will be released and it shall determine if we're fit to take the finals.
"Sinabi mo pa," Mira chimed in with a dramatic sigh. "Kapag talaga hindi ako nakapasa mato-toronto ako!"
"Ang OA niyo naman, parang calculus lang," Gia teased, her comment quickly earning her a playful punch from both of us.
"Ikaw na matalino!" Mira shot back, rolling her eyes. "Sorry ha kung ganito lang kaming mga kaibigan mo."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Hoy, 'wag mo ko idamay diyan, Mira. Matalino ako 'no."
We were still caught up in our banter when the door creaked open, and in walked Sir Ralph, holding a stack of papers that immediately sent shivers down our spines.
Please, sana makapasa. I can't fail Dad for the third time.
Sir Ralph moved down the aisle, handing out papers one by one, his expression calm, but every step he took closer to my seat made my heart race. He kept the scores hidden on the folded edge of his hand, heightening the suspense every second. And when he finally reached me, he paused, locking eyes with mine.
Please, kinakabahan na talaga ako!
"Congrats, Madison. Ikaw ang highest."
ANO DAW?!
I was completely stunned, unable to form a single word. Ako, highest? Paanong ako ang highest, e hindi naman ako magaling sa math, like, ever?
As all the papers have been handed to the rest of them, my friends and I gathered in a circle to talk, seriously, about what just had happened.
"Bro, ikaw ang highest? Paano nangyari 'yun?" Jade teased with a grin.
