CHAPTER 9: The royal lineage

After the interviews, Lilligant and Leavanny gave their paper sheets to the matchmaker Xatu to analyze them and search the perfect candidate for Snivy. He looked at them very carefully, page by page. One said that he was strong but proud, other said his mother got easily irritated, one was very cold, other was proud of his berries that almost attacked the princess, other was depressed, other had economic problems, and other his father was a hunter of Pokémon.

"Hmm..." the Mystic Pokémon said at times. He analyzed for many minutes without saying any words.

"And well, Xatu? What do you think? Is there an optimum candidate for my daughter?"

"Hmm... You know, Queen Serperior? I've been matchmaker for many years, I've met many families and I gave them the perfect mates."

"Yes?"

"Well... Do I tell you the truth?"

"Of course!"

"Alright. Uh... these princes are very... particular, but it can get something good out of that. That's not a serious problem."

"Oh, so then?"

"The biggest problem is your daughter! Never in my years of work I saw a girl so immature, rude, inappropriate and impolite and spoiled to others that want to win her heart! It's like she doesn't want to be with these candidates!"

"Umm... well.... It's true... but..."

"Please, don't make me come to see your daughter again in my life, do you understand? If you excuse me, my job here already ended. I'm leaving, farewell."

And Xatu went out angry to the exit of the Arbor Area. Queen Serperior was very disappointed for all what had happened. She had invited several good candidates for her dear daughter, but she had to ruin everything with her bad manners. She was angry at her daughter. She went towards the grass snake and said:

"Snivy."

"Yes, mom?"

Her mother wanted so hard to give a beating to her daughter, she wanted to give her another whiplash in the face, but that wouldn't work at all to change Snivy. She felt sad and disappointed in that moment. She tried to be more optimist.

"Umm... maybe the next time we will get the perfect boyfriend. Time must pass so that everything calms itself."

"Are you gonna get more useless boyfriends for me? Mom, that's not fair!"

"I know, but I do it for your own sake. We would get soon a boyfriend that you really like."

"Mom, I don't wanna have other boyfriend, Oshawott is my boyfriend, and nobody will take him away from me."

Serperior was still with the idea of that Oshawott wasn't the appropriate mate for her daughter. She thought what she could do to convince her. It seems that she had no other alternative to tell her what it would happen if the otter was the grass snake's boyfriend.

"Dear, let's talk for a while," Queen Serperior said in a sad tone, "It's very important what I going to say."

Snivy noticed that sad tone and tried to hear her mother.

"What do you wanna talk, mom?"

"Dear, my dear daughter, I'm going to tell the thing that are really important to our family. So pay attention to what I'm going to say."

"Okay, mom."

"You know how our family works, don't you?"

"Umm... I don't remember a lot really."
