Morning arrived quietly, a soft glow creeping through the windows of Ryo's room. He sat up, his body still aching slightly from the events of the past days, but his mind was sharper than ever. The conversation with his grandfather, the revelations about his quirk, his parents' abilities—everything seemed to swirl in his thoughts like a storm that refused to settle. As he got ready for school, he couldn't help but notice the three faint whisker marks on each side of his face. They felt different, almost like a reminder of his evolving powers. He turned to the mirror, touching them lightly with his fingertips, feeling a surge of something—determination, maybe? Or perhaps acceptance of the person he was becoming.
His grandfather knocked softly on the door, peering in with a warm smile. "Ready for your first day back, Ryo?" he asked, his eyes lingering on the whisker marks.
Ryo nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Yeah, I guess so," he replied, looking back at his reflection. "These... marks. Are they permanent now?"
His grandfather chuckled, stepping inside. "It seems so. They're a part of you, a manifestation of your new abilities, and a reminder of who you are. They suit you, I think. Make you look more... fierce."
Ryo laughed lightly, the tension easing a little. "Fierce, huh? Well, I suppose I'll have to get used to them." He grabbed his bag and headed for the door, his grandfather's reassuring presence a comforting weight on his shoulders.
As they made their way to U.A., Ryo felt the familiar sense of excitement and anticipation build within him. Despite everything, he was eager to see his friends again, to be back in the environment where he felt like he belonged. He arrived at the classroom earlier than usual, surprising even himself. The room was still empty, and he took a moment to enjoy the quiet, the calm before the inevitable storm of his classmates' chatter.
Soon, Momo walked in, her expression shifting from surprise to a warm smile. "Ryo, you're here early," she noted, taking her seat beside him.
Ryo grinned. "Yeah, I guess I just couldn't wait to see everyone. Feels like it's been forever."
Momo nodded, her eyes studying his face closely, noticing the new whisker marks. "I see... you're looking a bit different today," she said gently, her tone curious but not prying.
Ryo chuckled, touching his cheek. "Yeah, I guess I've gone through some changes."
Before Momo could inquire further, the door burst open, and one by one, the rest of the class began to file in. Kirishima and Mina walked in together, immediately spotting Ryo and making their way over to him. Their faces lit up with excitement.
"Hey, Ryo! How've you been, man?" Kirishima asked, his voice filled with genuine concern and enthusiasm.
Mina chimed in, her eyes bright with curiosity. "Yeah, we've been dying to hear about what happened with your Quirk. Tell us everything!"
Ryo couldn't help but smile at their eagerness. "Alright, alright," he began, raising his hands in a mock surrender. "I guess it's time to spill the beans."
The rest of the class grew quiet, sensing that something important was about to be shared. Midoriya, Bakugo, and Todoroki subtly edged closer, their expressions a mix of curiosity and attentiveness. Others who had witnessed the transformation first-hand, like Jiro, Kaminari, and Tsuyu, leaned in as well, eager to hear what he had to say.
"Well," Ryo started, "after the U.S.J. attack, my grandfather explained a lot about my Quirk. Turns out, it's a combination of three different Quirks from my family. My grandfather has a Quirk called Chakra Manipulation, which lets him control and channel the life energy that flows through all living beings. My grandmother had a Quirk called Fox, which gave her the characteristics and abilities of a fox. And my mom... she had a Quirk called Teleportation."
