Soobin wasn't sure when this whole thing with Yeonjun started to feel... different.
At first, it was just harmless fun. Yeonjun teased him, so Soobin teased back—it was a game, and Soobin was good at games. He wasn't about to let Yeonjun win that easily, after all.
But lately, Soobin noticed little things slipping through the cracks—his cracks. Like how he'd catch himself staring at Yeonjun for a second too long, or how his heart would do that annoying flip-flop thing whenever Yeonjun's arm brushed against his.
It was stupid. Completely irrational.
So why did his chest feel so tight every time Yeonjun laughed?
"Hey, Soobin!" Taehyun's voice pulled him back to reality. "You with us?"
Soobin blinked, realizing he'd spaced out during their study session. Yeonjun, Taehyun, Hueningkai, and Beomgyu were all staring at him, waiting for an answer.
"Oh, yeah," Soobin muttered, trying to play it cool. "Just... thinking."
Hueningkai raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Thinking? Or daydreaming?"
"I—" Soobin shot him a glare, but Hueningkai wasn't wrong. He had been daydreaming—about Yeonjun, of course, because that's where his brain seemed to go nowadays, whether he wanted it to or not.
"Bro, you're totally out of it," Beomgyu chimed in, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a smug grin. "What's up with you?"
"Nothing's up," Soobin mumbled, avoiding eye contact.
"Sure, sure," Beomgyu said, wiggling his eyebrows at Yeonjun. "You two been competing so much that Soobin's finally short-circuiting?"
Yeonjun, oblivious as ever, just grinned. "You okay? You've been kinda spacey all day."
Soobin's heart did that annoying thing again. He hated that Yeonjun was so... attentive sometimes. "I'm fine."
He wasn't fine. Especially not when Yeonjun leaned in, way too close, pretending to look at his notebook, but Soobin could feel his warmth, smell his cologne, and it was way too much for his poor, stressed-out heart.
"Right," Yeonjun said, giving him a teasing look. "Sure, you are."
Soobin swallowed, trying to ignore the fact that his face was probably turning red. He glanced over at Taehyun, Hueningkai, and Beomgyu, praying they hadn't noticed how flustered he was, but—
They were all smirking. Fantastic.
Pull it together, Soobin.
He tried focusing on his notes, but his hand brushed against Yeonjun's, and without thinking, Soobin flinched back like he'd been electrocuted.
And that's when it happened.
For just a second, his eyes met Yeonjun's, and Soobin knew he'd screwed up. His expression must've given him away—too soft, too vulnerable, too real—because Hueningkai's smirk turned into a full-on grin, and Beomgyu's eyes lit up like he'd just won the lottery.
"Oh, my God," Hueningkai whispered, just loud enough for Taehyun and Beomgyu to hear. "Did you see that?"
"See what?" Yeonjun asked, glancing between them, clueless.
Taehyun snickered, but before he could say anything, Soobin jumped in, his voice way too high-pitched. "Nothing! They didn't see anything."
Beomgyu shot a quick look at Hueningkai and Taehyun, his grin widening. "Oh, we definitely saw something."
Hueningkai bit his lip, trying not to laugh, while Taehyun leaned back in his chair, looking smug. Soobin could feel the heat creeping up his neck, his brain short-circuiting with one thought.
They know.
"Uh-huh," Taehyun said, giving Soobin a knowing look. "Totally nothing."
Yeonjun, bless his oblivious heart, shrugged and went back to his notes. Soobin tried to focus, but inside, he was panicking.
This was supposed to be fun, a silly game, but now Taehyun, Hueningkai, and Beomgyu were going to tease him forever, and worse—worse—Soobin was realizing that maybe he wasn't playing anymore.
What if Yeonjun isn't playing either?
The thought hit him like a truck. He swallowed hard, trying to shake it off, but the seed had already been planted.
He was falling for Yeonjun. Hard.
And that was not part of the plan.
