Soobin hated how easy it was for his mind to wander.
One minute, he was staring at his textbook, trying to focus on the math problems in front of him, and the next... he was thinking about Yeonjun. Again. It was starting to become a serious problem.
He wasn't even sure when it got this bad. Before, it was just playful. Yeonjun flirted, Soobin teased, they both laughed it off.
But now? Now he was catching himself daydreaming about Yeonjun, and it wasn't just about their silly back-and-forth anymore.
He sighed, rubbing his eyes in frustration. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to be immune to Yeonjun's charm by now. He knew the guy too well—he knew his tricks, his playful smirks, his endless teasing.
So why did his heart still race every time Yeonjun got too close?
"You good?" Taehyun's voice broke through his thoughts.
Soobin flinched, quickly sitting up straight as if that would make him look less suspicious. "What? Yeah. Fine. Totally fine."
Taehyun raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. He exchanged a glance with Hueningkai, who was lounging on the couch nearby, scrolling through his phone but definitely paying attention.
"You've been staring at that same page for, like, ages," Taehyun pointed out, leaning back in his chair. "What's up with you?"
"Nothing's up," Soobin insisted, trying to sound casual. "Just... tired."
"Tired," Hueningkai echoed, his tone laced with suspicion. "Or distracted?"
Soobin glared at him. "I'm not distracted."
Hueningkai smirked, clearly enjoying this way too much. "Sure you're not."
Taehyun folded his arms, giving Soobin a knowing look. "You've been weird lately, you know that? Like, more spaced out than usual. Care to explain why?"
Soobin shifted uncomfortably. He wasn't about to admit that the reason he'd been "weird" lately had everything to do with Yeonjun. They'd never let him live it down. "I've just got a lot on my mind."
Hueningkai snorted. "Yeah, like Yeonjun?"
Soobin froze. "What?"
Taehyun grinned, clearly enjoying this more than he should. "You've been spending a lot of time with him, haven't you?"
"So? We're just—studying." The lie sounded weak, even to Soobin.
"Oh, sure. 'Studying.'" Hueningkai made air quotes with his fingers, smirking even harder now. "Totally not flirting or anything."
"We're not flirting!" Soobin's voice came out louder than he intended, and both Taehyun and Hueningkai burst out laughing.
"Soobin, you're terrible at lying," Taehyun said, shaking his head. "Come on, just admit it."
"There's nothing to admit," Soobin mumbled, his face burning. "Yeonjun and I are just friends. That's it." Lied so bad even Soobin himself wasn't convinced.
Taehyun narrowed his eyes. "Friends who stare at each other for way too long and just a minute away from kissing each other?"
Soobin groaned, burying his face in his hands. This was not how he'd planned to spend his day—getting grilled by his friends about his confusing feelings for Yeonjun. "You guys are reading into things."
Hueningkai leaned over, poking Soobin's arm. "Are we, though?"
Soobin didn't answer. He didn't trust himself to say anything without giving away too much.
The truth was, they weren't wrong. He was distracted. And it was because of Yeonjun. But he wasn't ready to admit that yet. Not to them. And definitely not to himself.
But no matter how hard he tried to deny it, the truth kept creeping in. The game they were playing—it wasn't just a game anymore.
At least, not for him.
Every time Yeonjun smiled at him, every time he teased Soobin with that mischievous glint in his eyes, Soobin felt his heart slip a little further out of his control.
This wasn't supposed to happen.
"Alright, fine, don't admit it," Taehyun said, rolling his eyes. "But we know what's going on."
"Yeah," Hueningkai added with a grin. "You're totally whipped."
Soobin threw a pillow at him, trying to cover up how flustered he felt. "Shut up."
They laughed, but Soobin couldn't help the nagging feeling in the back of his mind.
The more he tried to brush it off, the harder it became to ignore. He wasn't just playing along with Yeonjun anymore. He was whipped.
And that terrified him.
