Soobin couldn't stop smiling.

He tried. He really did.

But every time he thought about Yeonjun's face—the way his eyes went wide in panic after knocking over the soda, the awkward stammer when he asked Soobin to coffee—it made his heart do a weird little flip. It was a kind of nervousness he wasn't used to feeling, but for some reason, it wasn't unpleasant.

"You look way too happy right now," Taehyun said, shooting him a side glance as they walked down the hall.

Hueningkai nodded in agreement. "Yeah, spill it. You've been smiling like an idiot since lunch."

Soobin rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the heat creep up his face. He wasn't exactly good at hiding things, especially not from these two. "It's nothing. I mean, it's just Yeonjun."

"Just Yeonjun?" Taehyun raised an eyebrow, practically challenging him. "Dude knocked over your entire drink and then basically choked on his own words trying to ask you out. That's not nothing."

Hueningkai snorted, clearly trying not to laugh. "Honestly, it was kind of amazing. I've never seen Yeonjun act so... uncool."

Soobin didn't know what to say to that. They weren't wrong—Yeonjun was usually the picture of confidence. But when he was around Soobin, that cool exterior seemed to melt into something softer, more nervous. And Soobin... well, Soobin didn't hate it. At all.

"It was kinda cute," Soobin admitted, biting his lip as his friends' jaws dropped in unison.

"Cute?" Taehyun looked like he was about to faint. "Are you seriously falling for this guy? Because I swear, if you are, I'm never letting you live it down."

Soobin rolled his eyes but couldn't stop the grin from spreading wider. "I-I'm not falling for him. I just think it's... it's kinda cute that he gets nervous and all that."

"Uh-huh, sure." Taehyun crossed his arms, smirking. "You keep telling yourself that."

Hueningkai patted him on the back, laughing. "Man, this is so much better than we thought. Yeonjun's really out here struggling, and you're actually into it."

"I didn't say that!" Soobin's face burned, but he couldn't deny the little thrill running through him at the memory of Yeonjun fumbling through his invitation.

Something about it just felt accelerating, like Yeonjun was trying so hard to keep it together, but when it came to Soobin, he couldn't.

The truth was, Soobin had always noticed Yeonjun. Maybe he'd never thought about it too much before, but he couldn't ignore the little spark of something now.

The way Yeonjun's eyes lit up when they talked, the way he'd glance at Soobin like he was something special, something worth getting flustered over. It was hard to explain, but it was there, and it made Soobin's heart beat faster.

"Okay, fine," Soobin said, trying to play it off, "maybe I think he's a little cute."

Both of his friends exploded into laughter, but Soobin didn't mind. They could tease him all they wanted. It didn't change the fact that Yeonjun's awkwardness had made him smile all afternoon, and the idea of getting coffee with him was starting to sound... nice. Really nice.

"So what are you gonna wear on your coffee date?" Hueningkai asked with a wink.

"It's not a date," Soobin muttered, but the butterflies in his stomach begged to differ.
