Before students get their creature, they first learn the basic care, history, and function of Magical Creatures, and Trainer etiquettes. And would take a test on it. If a student fails the test, they can repeat it prior to Creature Day. They are also given information on what to expect and how the Creature Day will operate. Also, it's their first day of uniform wear.
Upon gathering outside the forest, the students will pay attention to staff instructions such as, "The creature chooses you, not you," or "You may encounter retired creatures; please don't choose them; they definitely won't choose you." After receiving the instructions, the students scatter in the forest to obtain the creature they've been hyping for. The entire Creature Day event lasts for four hours. But, it takes around 45 minutes for a typical student to get their creature. If students get lost, a Parrow- a parrot crow-can guide them back to a familiar location.
The creatures that the students will find are either a dragon, phoenix, or unicorn. The student will magically transform their uniform to match the species of the creature when it accepts them by grabbing on to their horn or feather, depending on the species.

With their new creature, the new trainer will bring both of them back to DPC. They will go to a staff and introduce both their names and the trainer's class. There will be a barn like house for the creature to go into, and it's respective pen.
