Beloved wife, my dearest friend,

If you are reading this, I must have finally departed onto my rewards. As the doctors have warned me I shall gradually lose myself day by day until am I merely a shell of the man I used to be, and I know that when the time comes, you will not leave my side.

I know not whether I will be able to tell you these words at that time, so I am gathering my thoughts right now.

Do not mourn me. My life has been filled with love and joy, my only regret is the marriage and family you could not have because of me.

You have been a blessing to me these years that we have been wed. Your loyalty, your friendship, your care have been treasures immeasurable to me in their worth. I have undoubtedly been the one who benefited from our marriage the most.

I want you to know that I will always care for you, even beyond this life, and I want you to use everything I have left you in pursuit of your own happiness. Travel, throw parties, buy the most ridiculous hats you can find, live. Never lose your vibrancy. Love with all your heart. Find a love for yourself equal to the love I have had in my life.

I want nothing more than your every happiness. You have sacrificed enough for my sake and once I am gone, I want you to never have to sacrifice anything ever again.

Your ever loving friend and husband,

William Winslow, Viscount Whittaker
