Outside the café, Sabrina and Shania saw Martina talking to someone. But when they walked inside, Martina was sitting alone, looking around like the person she was talking to had just disappeared.
"Martina, sinong kausap mo?" Sab asked as she walked up to her friend, with Shania following behind.
Martina blinked, like she was pulled back into reality. The bubbly Alex was gone, and the chair was slightly pushed back. She hadn't even noticed Alex leaving.
"Ahm... wala, nakaalis na ata," Martina replied, trying to sound casual. "Anong ginagawa niyo dito?"
"Nakita ka namin na parang may kausap ka, pero nung lumapit kami, wala naman," Shania said, a hint of concern in her voice. "Okay ka lang ba, Martina?"
Just as Martina was about to respond, the café door opened, and in walked Alex—her wife. Her eyes scanned the room until they found Martina. A smile spread across Alex's face, but there was something unspoken in her gaze.
"Nakapag-usap ba kayo?" Alex asked, her voice warm, though there was a trace of something else. "Hi, girls."
"Hi," Sab greeted back, still a little confused.
"Si Shania, friend din namin," Martina introduced. Shania squealed a bit internally before offering her hand for a handshake.
"Nice to meet you po!" Shania greeted, shaking Alex's hand a bit too eagerly.
Sensing a shift, Martina stood up and took Alex's hand. "Mauna na muna kami, ha?"
As soon as they got inside Alex's condo, Martina could feel something was off. Alex was quiet, quickly changing into comfy clothes and sitting on the bed with a slight frown.
"Jelly ka pa rin?" Martina teased, sitting beside her.
"Syempre," Alex replied, crossing her arms. "Siya naman una mong nagustuhan."
Martina smiled softly and scooted closer, wrapping her arms around Alex's waist. "Daddy, wag na masungit," she said sweetly, her chin resting on Alex's shoulder.
Alex couldn't help but smile. "Ano bang sinabi niya?"
"Hmm... parang ang weird niya. Tapos sabi niya gusto niya maging friends kami," Martina said, shrugging and gently pinching Alex's cheek. "Daddy naman eh. Wag ka na magalit, asawa ko."
Alex chuckled, her mood lifting. "Kakadaddy mo, baka maging daddy nga ako."
Martina's eyes gleamed with playfulness. "Gusto mo?" she teased, raising her eyebrows suggestively.
Alex burst into laughter, her worries melting away. Then, in one quick motion, she pushed Martina onto the bed and climbed on top of her.
"Alex!!!" Martina squealed, laughing along as Alex grinned down at her.
For a moment, they just stared at each other, a comfortable silence between them. Then Alex's voice broke through, soft but serious. "Paano kung gusto ko nga?"
Martina raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile spreading across her lips. "Edi bumuo tayo. Para di ka na rin nagsusungit dyan, kakaselos mo."
Alex leaned down and gave Martina a quick peck on the lips, but Martina frowned in mock disappointment. "Makakabuo ba yang ganyan? Hina mo naman, lods."
Alex laughed harder this time, her laughter echoing in the room, before she buried her head in the crook of Martina's neck. She sighed contentedly, holding her a little tighter as the tension between them finally disappeared.
