A few days later.

The man who had earlier introduced himself as Lunami's father came out of the room. He just frowned at the nurses. ,,I expect she'll be better. She's already missing her education and wasting her time here. If she is not better in a week, I will take her anyway," he threatened the doctors as he left. Lunami was sitting on the bed in the room, hugging one of her stuffed animals, with tears in her eyes.

Sylus sat silently on the bed next to Lunami, clutching Mephisto with one arm as he watched her father's harsh words. The man's cold demeanor and the way he treated Lunami's condition as nothing more than an inconvenience angered him, but he couldn't find the courage to say anything. He looked at Lunami, his heart breaking as he saw the tears in her eyes. He hesitantly reached out and placed his hand gently on her shoulder, trying to offer some comfort.

When Sylus touched her, she looked up at him. She couldn't hold back her crying anymore, that one touch broke her and she broke down. She was confused, sad. Why was her father treating her like this? Why was he being so mean?

Seeing Lunami break down sent a pang of pain through Sylus' heart. Seeing her cry made him want to cry as well. He wrapped both of his arms around her and pulled her into a tight, comforting embrace. ,,I-It's okay, just let it out. I'm here..." He held her against him, gently stroking her hair as she wept into his shoulder.

Lunami willingly pressed herself into his arms and cried. She was sad, she was disappointed. ,,He'll probably really take me away from here. It's my fault, he's right, I should... I don't know... I guess it's really my fault for being sick..." she whined.

Sylus shook his head firmly, tightening his hold on her. The thought of her being taken away was more than enough to ignite a fire in him ,,No, it's not your fault! You can't control being sick, and he shouldn't treat you this way. You shouldn't be forced to leave just because he says so." He continued to gently stroke her hair, trying to soothe her tears with words of comfort.

Lunami sobbed and then whimpered softly. ,,I don't want to leave. You know, you're probably my first good friend and I'm afraid I'll never see you again," Lunami looked at Sylus.

Sylus felt a pang of sadness and worry at Lunami's words. The thought of her being taken away and never seeing her again was a bitter pill to swallow. He gazed back at her, his eyes expressing both sympathy and determination. ,,I don't want you to leave either... I don't want to lose you. We have to find a way to convince your father to let you stay. We... we can't let him take you away."

Lunami whimpered. ,,I'm afraid his decision won't change anything. He takes what he wants and... And he'll stop at nothing. A lot of people in the N109 Zone are afraid of him... And sometimes I do too," she whispered.

Sylus' expression darkened as Lunami spoke of her fear towards her father. He could see the fear in her eyes and the way she tensed up at the mere mention of him. She was terrified, and it only fueled his determination to keep her safe. ,,I don't care who he is or what he does. I won't let him take you. You're my friend, and I won't just let him separate us like that..." He hugged her tighter, as if to express his resolve.

As much as Lunami wanted to believe it, she couldn't. She and Sylus were still just children, children who had no power in the world. So indeed, day had come to day, and Lunami had to pack her things. It was her last time to say goodbye. She stood across from Sylus, clutching Mephisto in her hand. She reached out and handed the stuffed animal to the young boy. ,,Keep it as a Christmas present and also... Don't forget me," Lunami said with tears in her eyes.

Sylus took Mephisto from Lunami, his fingers wrapping around the familiar plush toy. He clutched it tightly, almost as if it was a lifeline. His eyes stung from the tears that threatened to spill as he looked back at her. ,,I-I won't forget you. I promise, I won't forget you... I'll never forget you." He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her in a tight, desperate hug, wanting to hold onto her for just a few more seconds.

Lunami immediately hugged him back. ,,You are my first and only friend, Sylus," she whispered softly into his shirt before pulling away. A nurse came in. ,,It's time to go," she said.

Sylus felt a wave of sadness wash over him as Lunami pulled away, his heart heavy with despair as he knew that this could be the last time he'd ever see her again. He watched her in silence, his hands clenching around Mephisto as if he was the only thing holding him together. ,, ...Don't go..." He took a single step forward, reaching out a hand as if to stop her.

But Lunami was already leaving with The nurse. She turned to him once more. ,,I will never forget you," she whispered softly, and a few tears rolled down her cheeks. The nurse closed the door behind them.

Sylus watched in silent despair as the door closed behind Lunami and the nurse, his hand still outstretched towards her as the final glimpse of her disappeared. His heart felt as if it had shattered into a million pieces, and tears streamed down his face as he stood in the empty room, clutching Mephisto tightly in his arms. Loneliness crept up in him like a dark shadow, and he was now faced with the reality of a world without the one person he had come to value the most, his only friend...
