Bakugo sighed as he tossed his game controller on his bed, another death screen on his TV. Shifting over to his nightstand, he took a swig of the half-drank beer that sat there. Mid-drink, he heard his phone vibrate on the bedsheets next to him and he let out a low groan.

Can't even have a moment on my days off.

He swiped the answer button to the side with a sigh. "What, Deku?"

"The forensics got back to us, Kacchan. That member died...he died of the poisoning. But there was severe hemorrhaging. Like something or someone attacked him."

Bakugo chuckled. "Guessing he pissed off the boss or something?

"Maybe." Midoriya sighed. "They didn't leave any proper fingerprints we could trace."
"But they left some, Deku?"

Midoriya made an agreeable noise. "They looked at the fingerprints and they belonged to some random construction worker nearby."

Bakugo let out a 'tch'. "Of course they'd be using shit like that. Why couldn't they be at least a little messy with their murders, eh? Most yakuza members aren't that prepared enough for that kinda shit."

"They're more calculated than other groups we've taken down, Kacchan."

Bakugo growled into the phone as he plopped flat on his bed. "And took them down with less, damn it."

"But HQ doesn't want you---"

"ME?!"

Midoriya sighed on the other side of the line. "Yes, Kacchan. They want you to go on a recon mission."

Bakugo sat up in his bed, his body tense with annoyance. "Why can't you get someone like Tokoyami to do it?"

Bakugo's mind lingered on the statement. "Why were you meeting with that overgrown chicken?"

Midoriya stayed quiet for a moment before speaking again. "Because I had questions I needed to ask, and permission to do something stupid."

"Don't you do stupid shit all the time?"

"Not as stupid as this, Kacchan. I asked to include a victim of that most recent attack."

Bakugo stood up, tossing his empty beer in the trash, he let out a sigh as he grabbed another one. "You're fucking crazy, Deku."

"I'm tired of seeing Kasia like this, Kacchan. Maybe easing her back into this could jog her memory!"

"Deku." Bakugo's tone went sharp. "Do you not remember what I said the other day?"

"Yes. But what if Garaki was wrong? We were young, what if he did that to scare us?"

"If he did, then why didn't that little horned twerp's quirk work, huh?"

"Eri did what she could, Kacchan. She's not to blame for it." Midoriya retorted, his tone matching Bakugo's in intensity.

"So why did you want to include Kasper in this?"

"Not just to jog her memory, if that's what you're asking. She's been attacked by Epiales more than once. She deserves answers."

There was a dead silence that hung in the air.

"And besides, she might know something we don't." Midoriya iterated. "She isn't the same girl we knew, Kacchan."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Why are you pairing her up with me?" Bakugo hissed, taking a swig of his new beer.

"I don't trust you alone on a recon. And Kirishima tends to egg you on and get you in trouble." Midoriya answered, his words laced with a stifled laugh.
