I had just returned with Stacy from going to check out three different apartments, I was extremely tired but i felt fulfilled, I had finally found something that was to my taste. I wasn't looking for a very big house with two sitting rooms, guest rooms and all the rest, I was just like for something moderate since it was going to be just myself and Stacy. I got an apartment with an average sized sitting room, a room for Stacy, the bed room and the master bedroom. I didn't know how long I'd be staying there but so I wanted something that would be comfortable for everyone. I made payments before I had my shower. I wanted to leave the hotel and move into my own apartment as soon as possible, so I made sure to get someone to clean the house and do the interior designs. My aim was to move in the next month which wasn't up to three weeks from that day. Dinner was served and I sat by Stacy and we had our dinner. My phone rang, I sighed, it was mom again
" Hey mom "
" Honey, I'm off work tomorrow. Would you please come with my grand daughter ?"
" Come to do what exactly ?"
" Em, I know you're not happy about what happened but c'mon it's been so long, let's talk things out "
" Mom, I'm not mad at you anymore okay ? I'm just... not ready to talk. You know I don't stay mad for a long time. I'm just... I still don't understand why you'd do such a thing "
" Can we at least talk ? "
" I'll bring Stacy over tomorrow morning, she'll stay the weekend but I'll come pick her up on Sunday morning, because of school "
" Alright honey. But we should have that conversation sometime y'know "
" Take care of your health mom, I'll see you in the morning I guess "

No, I really didn't feel like having such a discussion with Mom. That was quite selfish of her. It was supposed to be my life, my decisions, my risks to take or handle. She had no right to do something like that to me. For crying out like I wasn't some sixteen or eighteen years old. My phone buzzed briefly and I stopped my thoughts. It was Nathan, he sent me a text. Instead of texting back I called him.
" Hey handsome "
" What's up beautiful ? How're you ?"
" I'm okay, just sitting around as y'know, venting to myself "
" Why are you venting ? Is it my little flower? "
" No, it's mom. She said she wants to talk about the stuff that happened "
" And ? "
" There's no and Nate, I told her I'd drop her grand daughter off tomorrow and probably steal Garrett for brunch "
" Well , when do you really intend to speak with her ? "
" I can't say "
" You can never really be ready. Like I said before. It's normal for you to get mad and feel betrayed, but then you can't keep this up. Don't forget it's not affecting you alone, but it'll strain Stacy's relationship with her grandma. "
" Yeah, that's quite thoughtful "
" You don't have to go back to live with her, but you have to settle things. Your anger was that you didn't get to finish your training and you weren't sure how things would turn out with me right ? "
" Yeah. "
" But now I'm here and we're slowly picking up our relationship from where we left off right ? "
" Yeah. "
" So, just try to over look it. It's all in the past now so just let go of it. Everything else will fall in place with time okay ? "
" You're right "
" Don't worry, just let it go "
" I'll think about it "
" That's better than nothing "
" Yeah. I got the apartment, I sent you the pictures "
" Yeah, I went through them "
" Thanks for helping out "
" Don't mention baby "
" Wanna go shopping with me tomorrow ? I wanna pick up some items for the new house "
" Definitely "
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did a lot of thinking that night, before I finally went to bed. As promised, I got Stacy ready to go to her grandma's and I finally agreed to talk to her. We got to the house few minutes after 9 am. She was happy to see me and her grand daughter especially. We didn't waste too much time beating about the bush. As soon as we arrived, she got the maid to set the table so we could all have breakfast as a family. I had missed family breakfast, and luckily I had not eaten breakfast yet. Stacy knew that her grandma would cook so just took few slices of bread in anticipation of a nice breakfast as her grandma's. After breakfast, Stacy went off with Garrett to play some games and do everything she wasn't allowed to do around me . Of course that was the fun of extended family members. I sat on the one seater in the sitting room and mother started.
" Thank you for coming honey, I know this must have been really hard. ... I've had time to reflect on my actions and I realized I was wrong. Your father's death left a void in our lives, the fear of loosing you too drive me to desperation. I feel scared every time Garrett has to go, it was the same with your father. I can't loose the only things I have left . That was why I made such a rash decision. I shouldn't have projected my fears on you. I'm sorry honey. It won't do much, it won't change anything, but I'm really sorry, "
" I was mad because I had something nice going on with him... You obviously already know him. I was scared I'd loose him. I was also scared because I didn't know what to do. Of course all this isn't going to turn back the time and let me finish my cadet training at least. But I guess there's a lot more to life than being in the military. I'm only letting this go because everything is going well with him even now "
" Have you seen him ? "
" Yes, he's completed his training and he's home now to rest and recoup "
" His name is Nathan isn't it ? "
" Yes it is . I'll have to leave soon, I have to meet up with him for shopping "
" Would you be willing to give this one your all ? "
" Mom, c'mon " I said with a smile
" Alright alright, just be careful please "
" I'm going to say hi to Garrett and Stacy before leaving "
" Knock yourself out honey "
