kylie and jason had brought the kids over to taylor's place for a relaxed afternoon. it was one of those rare times when everyone's schedules lined up perfectly. taylor's house was quieter and more peaceful than the kelce household, which made it a nice break for jason and kylie. the kids were excited, exploring the living room while the adults caught up and chatted.

taylor's cats, benjamin and olivia, were lounging comfortably on the couch, enjoying the warm sunlight from the window.

as the kids wandered around, wyatt's eyes locked onto the cats. her heart raced, and she immediately went into protective mode. grabbing ellie's hand, she pulled her back. "ellie, stay behind me," wyatt whispered urgently, her voice filled with fear and determination. "those are the cats!"

ellie, only three and not fully understanding, trusted her big sister completely. she clung to wyatt, her wide eyes fixed on the cats.

benjamin, noticing the movement, stood up and started walking toward them, curious about the new little humans in the house. to wyatt, it looked like the cats were coming straight for them, and she felt a wave of panic wash over her.

"they're coming for us!" wyatt cried, her voice high-pitched and frantic. she tightened her grip on ellie. "we need to run, now!"

both girls let out a terrified scream and bolted across the room, running directly into kylie's arms. wyatt was clutching her mother tightly, her small body trembling as she tried to keep ellie safe behind her.

"mommy, the cats!" wyatt sobbed, burying her face into kylie's shoulder. "they're going to hurt us!"

ellie, who still didn't fully grasp what was happening but knew her sister was scared, was also crying, clinging onto kylie with big, tear-filled eyes. "no cats," she whimpered, her voice barely audible between sobs.

kylie gave jason a look, not surprised at all about this reaction but still annoyed. "jason," she said, shaking her head in exasperation, "you're still telling them cats are venomous?"

jason looked sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck. "uh, yeah," he admitted, trying to look innocent. "i might've said that because, well... i don't really want a cat and you keep trying to get them on your side so we get one."

"seriously?" taylor said, staring at jason in disbelief. "you told them cats are venomous just because you don't want one?"

"it worked," jason mumbled, avoiding taylor's incredulous look. "until now, anyway."

travis just shook his head, trying not to laugh at the whole situation.

taylor stared at him, still in disbelief.
"you can't just go around telling kids cats are venomous!" she said, half-amused, half-exasperated.

"yeah, lesson learned," jason muttered, looking at the girls who were still clinging to kylie.

kylie sighed, focusing on the girls, who were still visibly shaken. "it's okay," she said softly, trying to calm them down. "daddy was just being silly because he didn't want us to get a cat. but benjamin and olivia are not venomous at all. they're actually really sweet."

wyatt looked up at her mom, still not fully convinced but wanting to be brave for her sister. "daddy said they are." she said, her voice wavering.

"daddy's silly baby girl, i promise they won't hurt you." kylie said calmly rubbing their backs.

"what i said about the cats was wrong. benjamin and olivia aren't venomous at all. they're not scary or dangerous." jason admitted looking at his girls.

"are you sure daddy?" wyatt asks fear still lingering in her eyes

jason, feeling guilty, nodded. "i'm sure, wyatt," he said gently. "i promise, they're not going to hurt you or ellie. i was wrong to say that, and i'm really sorry for scaring you."

taylor moved closer, crouching down beside the girls. "benjamin and olivia are really friendly," she said with a warm smile. "you can watch us pet them first if you want, just to see that they're not scary at all."

wyatt took a deep breath, still holding ellie protectively behind her. "let me pet them first, ellie," she said, her voice serious and protective. "i'll make sure it's safe for you."

ellie nodded, trusting wyatt completely. "okay, wy," she whispered.

wyatt stepped forward cautiously, keeping her eyes on benjamin, who was now sitting calmly, looking up at her with curious eyes. taylor gently reached out and stroked benjamin's back, and he purred contentedly, nuzzling into her hand.

"see?" taylor said softly, glancing back at wyatt. "he's just a big fluffy friend."

wyatt watched closely, her nerves slowly settling as she saw how relaxed the cat was. she took another step closer and reached out her hand. with taylor's gentle guidance, she carefully petted benjamin. he purred louder, leaning into her touch, and wyatt let out a small, relieved laugh.

"he's soft," wyatt said, turning to look at ellie. "he's not scary, i promise."

seeing wyatt petting the cat without any trouble, ellie finally felt brave enough to step forward. she reached out and touched olivia, who rolled over onto her back, purring happily.

kylie let out a sigh of relief, giving jason a pointed look that said, "you're not off the hook for this," but with a hint of a smile.

"maybe you'll think twice next time, before you decide to lie to our kids about animals just because you don't want or like them." she stared back at jason

jason nodded, feeling a mix of guilt and amusement. "yeah, i guess i need to rethink my strategy," he said with a sheepish smile.

taylor shook her head, smiling at the kids who were now cautiously but happily petting the cats. "well, at least we cleared that up," she said, her tone lightening. "and it looks like they're making new friends after all."

the room became more relaxed. the kids slowly warmed up to benjamin and olivia. they spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the cats, giggling as benjamin and olivia batted at toys or purred contentedly under gentle pets. the adults returned to their conversation, chatting and laughing while keeping a casual eye on the kids, who were now thoroughly entertained and at ease.
