tw: panic attack, breakdown, hospital
taylor sat on the living room floor, surrounded by crayons and coloring books. ellie and wyatt were across from her, giggling as they filled their pages with bright colors. taylor smiled, though she looked a little tired. "that's beautiful, wy," she said, pointing to the rainbow wyatt had just drawn.
outside, travis, jason, and ryan were getting the barbecue started. kylie and blake were setting the table nearby, arranging plates and glasses while chatting about the barbecue.
but then, out of nowhere, a scream pierced through the air.
"DADDY!! MOMMY!! UNCLE TRAVVY!!"wyatt's voice echoed from inside the house, high pitched and full of panic.
travis, jason, ryan, kylie, and blake all froze. they exchanged quick, fearful glances before dropping everything and sprinting towards the house. their hearts pounded as they rushed into the living room.
there she was. taylor lay on the floor, her eyes closed, crayons scattered around her. ellie and wyatt stood next to her, their faces pale and streaked with tears.
"tay!" travis dropped to his knees beside her, his hands shaking as he touched her shoulder. "tay, can you hear me?" his voice was cracking, panic rising in his chest.
kylie swooped in, gathering ellie and wyatt into her arms. "it's okay, it's okay, babies," she whispered, though nothing felt okay. the kids clung to her, sobbing against her.
blake stood nearby, her hand covering her mouth, eyes wide with fear. ryan quickly grabbed his phone, dialing 911 with trembling hands. "we need an ambulance, now," he managed to say, trying to keep his voice steady despite the fear gripping him.
travis gently lifted taylor's limp body, cradling her head against his shoulder. "we're gonna get you to the hospital, alright?" he whispered, even though she couldn't respond.
the drive to the hospital was a blur. sirens blared, and everyone's voices were frantic. when they finally arrived, everything moved way too fast. doctors and nurses rushed taylor inside, leaving the rest of them standing in the waiting room, scared and unsure of what to do.
blake was pacing back and forth, her fists fight together, her breathing getting faster and faster. her eyes were wide, filled with so much fear.
"blake, hey, hey, breathe," travis said, stepping in front of her, but blake wasn't listening. she was shaking all over, and tears were running down her face.
"i can't... i can't breathe!" blake gasped, stumbling backward. ryan rushed over, grabbing her shoulders gently to steady her. she stumbled, her legs giving out from under her.
"sit down, babe, breathe," ryan urged, his own voice shaking.
blake was gasping, her eyes wide as she clutched at her chest. "i can't... i can't breathe," she choked out, her whole body trembling. her head was spinning, and she clung to ryan's arm, tears spilling down her cheeks. "i can't," she wheezed, panic taking over.
kylie, who had been comforting ellie and wyatt across the room, saw what was happening. she quickly walked over, her eyes calm but concerned. "hey, it's okay," she said softly, placing a hand on ryan's shoulder. "let me try, okay? i know what to do."
ryan and travis exchanged a quick look before nodding, stepping back slightly but staying close by. kylie crouched down in front of blake, her voice gentle and soothing. "blake, look at me," she said softly, taking blake's hands in hers. "it's okay. you're having a panic attack, and i'm right here with you. we're going to get through this together."
blake's eyes were wild with fear, her breaths coming in short, sharp gasps. kylie kept her eyes steady on blake, her voice calm. "i want you to try to match my breathing, okay?" she began to take slow, deep breaths, exaggerating the motion to guide blake. "in through your nose, out through your mouth. just like that."
blake was still panicking, still feeling like the world was closing in around her, but kylie stayed right there with her, not letting go. "i know it's really hard, but i'm right here. let's try some box breathing, okay? it's gonna take time, and that's alright."
blake shook her head a little, not able to say anything. her eyes were squeezed shut, and she looked like she was totally losing control. "i know, i know," kylie soothed, rubbing her thumbs over blake's hands. "okay, let's start," kylie said softly. "breathe in for four seconds with me. ready? one... two... three... four."
blake tried to take a breath, but it came out all shaky, and she started choking on her breath. "that's okay, you're okay," kylie murmured, not letting go of her hands. "we're gonna try again. just focus on my voice. i'm right here."
blake squeezed her eyes shut again, tears spilling out as she tried to follow kylie's instructions. kylie took another slow breath. "breathe in... one... two... three... four. hold it. one... two... three... four."
blake's breaths were still all over the place, shallow and frantic, but kylie kept her voice steady. "it's alright if it doesn't work right away. we're just gonna keep going, one breath at a time."
it took several tries, blake still gasping and shaking, but kylie didn't give up. she kept counting, breathing with her. after what felt like forever, blake managed to take a slightly deeper breath. "good, that's it," kylie whispered, nodding. "now breathe out... one... two... three... four."
they went through it again and again, kylie not rushing, just staying there with blake, being patient. slowly, blake's breathing started to match kylie's, becoming a little steadier. the panic was still there, but it wasn't squeezing her chest so tight anymore.
"you're doing so good," kylie said softly. "just keep breathing with me."
blake finally managed to take a full, deep breath, but as soon as she did, all the fear and worry hit her at once. she let out a broken sob, collapsing forward into kylie's arms.
"i'm so scared," blake sobbed, clutching onto kylie like she was the only thing keeping her from falling apart.
"i know," kylie whispered, wrapping her arms around blake tight. "let it all out, it's okay. i've got you." she rubbed blake's back in slow, gentle circles, holding her close.
blake cried hard, her whole body shaking. kylie kept holding her, whispering, "you're not alone. i'm right here. just breathe."
ryan stepped closer, resting a hand on blake's back, his eyes red and worried. travis stood nearby, his face tense but thankful that kylie was there to help.
they stayed like that for a while, kylie holding blake as she broke down, rubbing her back and reminding her over and over, "you're safe, you're okay. just keep breathing."
