taylor lies in bed, her breathing shallow and uneven, her skin pale and fragile. the once vibrant energy she had was now all but gone. blake sat on the couch nearby, her eyes flicking between taylor and travis, who sat beside her, his hands clasped tightly, staring at the floor in silence.

"she barely wakes up anymore," blake whispered, glancing at travis. "when she does, she's so tired... she doesn't have long, does she?"

travis shook his head, voice cracking. "i don't think so. she's getting weaker every day, and i can't stop it."

blake's breath caught, and she blinked quickly, trying to hold back the tears building in her eyes. but it didn't work. her shoulders trembled, and tears started falling down her face as she tried to keep herself together. "i don't know how to deal with this, travis. it feels like we're losing her."

travis reached out, pulling blake into his chest, wrapping both arms around her tightly. as she broke down, sobbing into his chest, he gently rubbed her back, trying to comfort her even though his own heart was shattering. "it's going to be okay," he whispered softly, though his voice cracked. "we'll get through this, blake... i promise."

blake sobbed into his chest, her tears soaking into his shirt, and travis pressed his chin to the top of her head, his own tears finally slipping free. "i don't know if i can do this," she whispered, her voice muffled against him. "i don't know how to say goodbye to her."

"i don't either," travis whispered, his voice trembling.

a faint noise came from the bedroom, both travis and blake looked up quickly, their tears still fresh on their faces. they rush to the room, taylor's eyes fluttered open, her gaze unfocused and weak, but she was awake. blake wiped her tears hastily, leaning forward.

"hey, tay," blake said softly, her voice shaky but comforting. "how are you feeling?"

taylor blinked a few times, her breathing labored, and gave a small, tired smile. "tired," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "really.. tired"

blake swallowed hard, her heart aching as she watched her best friend. "do you want something to eat? i can make you anything you want."

taylor shook her head slightly, the motion barely there. "no... i'm not hungry." her voice was weak, and there was a far off look in her eyes.

"are you sure?" blake pressed gently, trying to keep the worry out of her voice. "you need to eat something, tay. just a little bit."

taylor shook her head again, her lips barely moving. "i can't... i just can't."

travis's hand tightened around blake's, his eyes filled with concern as he looked between taylor and blake. they both knew this wasn't a good sign. taylor had been eating less and less, and now she didn't even have the energy to try.

taylor shifted slightly in bed, her face scrunching up with a flicker of discomfort. she opened her eyes again, and they landed on travis. "can we..." she paused, her breath shaky. "can we see your parents? and jason... kylie... and the girls?" her voice was so soft, it was like a whisper on the wind.

travis's heart clenched at her request. he nodded immediately, trying to keep his own emotions in check. "yeah, of course. i'll call them right now."

taylor gave him a weak smile, the light in her eyes dim, but still there. "i just... i want to see them, you know? while i still can."

blake wiped away another tear, her heart breaking all over again at the reality of taylor's words. she leaned in closer, gently brushing taylor's hair away from her face. "you will, tay. we'll get them over here."

travis stood up, already pulling out his phone. "i'll call them right now. they'll be here as soon as possible."

as travis stepped out of the room to make the call, blake stayed close to taylor, watching her with a mix of love and heartache. taylor's breaths were slow, and every exhale seemed to take more effort than the last.

"it's going to be okay, sweet girl," blake whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "we're all here with you."

taylor gave a small nod, but her eyes were already closing again, her body too exhausted to stay awake for long. blake gently took taylor's hand in hers, squeezing it softly as tears slid down her cheeks.

a few minutes later, travis came back into the room, his face pale but determined. "they're on their way," he said quietly, sitting back down next to blake. "they'll be here soon."

blake nodded, her hand still holding taylor's. "thank you."
