The prison guard yawned and stretched. He cast a cursory glance at the motionless prisoner— heavily strapped with enchanted chains—hanging from the cell's ceiling and frowned.
Bai Yu-Hu. The mythical Kunlun nine-tailed fox prince whose blood and pearl were fabled elixirs of eternal beauty and powers. And who also possessed a transcendental beauty that not even the fairest of celestial maidens could boast of. A beauty that was unmarred by the severity of his trial.
Yet, who could believe that the fabled creature was also Gui Long?
The guard's frown deepened as he tried to imagine that sweet face with its exquisite features wearing a bloodlust expression, but he failed miserably.
A click sounded ominously behind him, and he turned around. He swallowed in pure panic when he realized who that was and fell clumsily to a prostrate position.
"M-min—minister Shi—Shi—Shi-Yuan!"
The silver-haired minister ignored the rambling guard, his red eyes riveted on the dangling prisoner. His jaw muscles twitched, and a snarl rumbled in his throat. With a careless wave of his hand, the guard collapsed in a convulsive heap while the chains clanged and loosened. The limp prisoner fell right into waiting arms.
The minister smiled and muttered something.
Black mist gathered and gradually solidified into a hanging limp figure in blood-soaked robes.
"This will do."
He looked down at the comatose Fox, tightened his grip, and vanished.

The mortal realm( 凡界)—A secluded island
"Wakey, wakey, little fox."
Yu-Hu coughed weakly, an action that he immediately regretted when his heart felt as if it was crushed by a spiked pestle. Weary tanzanite eyes opened feebly to the sight of a silver-haired, red-eyed creature crouching in front of his naked, wound-riddled body.
Gui Long.
"Ahhh, little fox. You're finally up and awake." Slimy fingers stroked cold cheeks. "I hope you had a good rest, my darling."
The fingers moved to Yu-Hu's abdomen caressingly while the creature's voice lowered to a husky whisper.
"Because I am going to have a lot of fun with you."
Fetid breath hit Yu-Hu's face, and the former Celestial Fox pulled away in absolute disgust and hatred. Lifting his head with considerable effort, he looked around, and his heart dropped into a bottomless pit of frigid despair and heartache.
Gui Long smirked at the disbelief and betrayal reflected in those blue-violet eyes.
"Remember this place?"
