Shinsekyo—Eishu
The massive King Cobra slithered silently along the ground, its drab olive-green body glistening dully in the dappled sunlight. As it approached the edge of the forests and neared the sandy shores bordering the grassy patch, the presence that it had detected earlier became stronger, more pronounced.
More familiar, and not exactly in a good way.
The reptile hissed loudly, raising nearly a third of its huge, thick body upright, its forked tongue raking the air to take in the scent that was mere feet away.
Mo Qing cursed viciously, and the air around him might have turned blue from the words. He shifted to his human form and narrowed his stupefied grey-green eyes at the being standing before him.
"You!"

The Valley—the Healing Cave
Saito laid a hand on the heaving shoulder in reassurance, his eyes filled with worry and uncertainty. Shion huddled on the frozen lake, his prone body still in the prostrated position that he had assumed fifteen minutes ago after his primordial spirit had reconnected with his body. Beside him, Seimei was running his fingers along the silver-haired male's spine and murmuring soothingly.
Meanwhile, the others continued to google. It was as though they had forgotten how to blink, perhaps even how to breathe. Not that Saito could blame them of course, especially after what they had witnessed. Even one as ancient as himself was shaken to the very core with awe and shock.
Another convulsion shot through the shoulder beneath Saito's warm palm, and his eyes darkened.
Rui-Er. Don't worry. Shion is all right, just give him a while to settle down. His body is trying to adapt to his primordial magic, that's all.
All right.
Seimei continued to soothe a quivering Shion, his hands alternating between massaging his nape and stroking the length of his spine, which emitted a faint bluish glow. At last, after what seemed like a near eternity, the convulsions stopped, and Shion stirred. He sat up, stretched, and turned to his lover.
"I feel so tingly all over, in a good way, though. Like I'm being charged by something." The samurai arched his back lightly, felt a powerful surge of energy thrummed through him, and straight to his eyes. "My eyes feel different."
"Little one," Seimei responded. "Let me see your eyes."
Those scarred lids fluttered open to reveal orbs that were no longer opalescent or milky. Instead, they were a shimmery silver, almost translucent. The way they were the very first time Seimei had seen them those endless millennia ago.
Seimei's heart stirred, a flutter of waves that Shion felt within his own.
"Big Brother Yu-Hu. Thank you for bringing me home."
Not exactly home yet, my little dragon. We still have a long way to go.
This is home, Big Brother, my love. You are my home.
You're giving me goosebumps, my dear. The awkward type.
Yu-Hu.
Saito interrupted the lover's telepathic banter, much to Shion's irritation. Giving his disgruntled little dragon a consoling pat on the head in real life, Seimei turned his attention to the Byakko.
Mo Qing found an intruder at Eishu. I'm going to investigate.
