Hello everyone! Once again, I am late with my update, much to my chagrin...but...real life has been most hectic and draining. Anyway, please enjoy this latest chapter and I am hoping my dearest readers will continue to support me (I know, I know, this story is very draggy..but it's supposed to be a saga).
Love you guys deep deep! So please, if you could, leave some comments and feedback!P.S.: some brief mentions of blood and violence.
He was a beast once feared
With wicked fangs and sharp talons
And an insatiable appetite
And a terrible dark power
But now he is a shadow of himself
Trapped inside a chamber of flesh and glass
Hissing for his release
The Valley of the Foxes-Central region
It was a beautiful morning and the clan was enjoying breakfast in their usual dining area. Soft chatter filled the air scented with the warm, spicy fragrance of piping hot food and steaming beverages when Gabimaru spoke.
"Seimei, now that we know nearly everything, would you tell us your plans? After all, we have already decided that we will stay to fight with you and Shion."
The shinobi smiled at Seimei's solemn expression.
"Actually, don't you think you are a tad too presumptuous to make decisions for us without even telling us anything or giving us a choice? Yes, you want to protect us by sending us back, but you seem to have conveniently ignored the fact that we aren't your typical 'humans', and just assumed that we will be defenseless and weak. But we are stronger than most; take Yuzuriha and me, for example. We possess ninjutsu. So who is to say that we can't hold our own against evil immortals?"
At the mention of her name, Yuzuriha picked up on Gabimaru's speech.
"I have wanted to say the same to you, Seimei. If it wasn't for the fact that I love you so much, I would have used my mucus string to tie you up and roast you over this fire."
Upon hearing the two ninjas' admonishments, a decidedly abashed Seimei nodded and chuckled.
"Point taken, my dears; both of you are right. I apologize for my presumptuous attitude. Please forgive me."
A trickle of melancholia darkened his blue-violet eyes as he sighed.
"I fear, you see. I have witnessed Zheng-Yu's cruelty and sadism. How he hurt those whom I care deeply about. They were totally innocent, yet they suffered because of me."
I am a jinx. And I am terrified of jinxing all of you.
Shion enveloped his depressed Fox in a protective embrace and pressed his warm lips to the top of his head, all the while rocking him gently.
Big Brother Yu-Hu, you're not a malison. You are Seimei.
"Nah, don't worry about that," Gantetsusai waved his cup of tea at the couple. "I know you're afraid for us, Seimei. But like what Tinymaru and our pretty kunoichi said, we are tough and smart. Plus, we are now quite proficient in Tao. I am very confident we will win."
The clearing filled with a hearty chorus of agreement, and Seimei cheered considerably. Sitting up, he accepted Saito's offering of hot tea.
"All right, in that case, I promise that there will be no more secrets. You can ask me anything you like, and I will answer you truthfully."
