"Congratulations, you were amazing" I told Lando as I was standing next to him in the media pen.I tried to be extra nice, considering he wanted to give me coffee this morning.
And besides, it wasn't a lie, he drove an amazing race.He went from P5 up to P2, which was good, right?
But he didn't seem happy, not at all.
He just shrugged, put his hand through his hair and looked straight ahead.
"Why aren't you happy?" I asked.
"There is nothing to be happy about, is there?" He mumbled in a rough voice. Almost as rough as his morning voice.
His harsh morning voice.
And it reminded me when I used to wake up next to him. His arms around my waist, but he always pulled me a little closer when he woke up.
He always made sure I felt loved, even in the morning.
"You should really stop dreaming about Max, you know" he said as he walked passed me, his shoulder brushing against mine.
Scratch all that. He was an asshole.
An absolute asshole.
I didn't even bother talking to him anymore. I just stood next to him and did my job. As everyone was expecting me to do.
I also didn't say goodbye to him or whatever. I just went to the airport, where Max told me to meet him.
"Just on time" Max smiled as soon as he saw me. He put his hand on my back as he guided me to his private plane.
I've never been on a private plane, this was all a bit surreal.
I smiled as I looked around, until I saw a familiar face. Lando's face
But he wasn't alone, he was sitting next to a girl, a girl I've never seen before.
He didn't expect me to be here either, that was clear from the look on his face.
"Uh hi" I said as I sat down in front of them. "I am Bonnie"
"I am Alara, I'm Lando's.."
"Friend" Lando immediately said. "She's my friend"
Alara looked at Lando, and judging by the look on her face, she wasn't just a friend.
"She needed a flight back to Monaco, so yeah" Lando explained. He didn't need to explain this to me. I didn't really care either way.
"That's cool" I nodded with a smile before turning my attention to Max. "Thanks for taking me back home"
"No problem, you can always come with me if you want" he smiled, sat down next to me.
Normally I would put my headphones on and try to sleep during the flight, but this time, I didn't feel the need to do that.
I talked to Max during the entire flight. He was so unintentionally funny and I was laughing pretty much the entire time.
Which annoyed the living shit out of Lando.
Every time I looked at him, he was clenching his teeth or rolling his eyes.
He probably hated hearing my laugh.
And I couldn't care less. I was having such a great time with Max.
Quite unexpected, but I wasn't complaining.
