Beomgyu led the group through the park

Beomgyu led the group through the park. The trees, with their branches reaching towards the sky, offered some protection from the rain, and the rustling grass under their shoes amplified the eerie silence. Koda walked ahead, keeping his head lowered most of the time, but occasionally he lifted it and perked up his ears. His gaze frequently shifted into the distance as if he could see something, but then the wolfhound continued forward with determination. When the small group finally reached the end of the park and thus the edge of the city, Beomgyu followed the familiar path to the mentioned wall.

"Here it is," Beomgyu said with a serious expression as the four friends stood before it.

The others followed his gaze and stared at the impressively large crack that ran like a scar through the weathered masonry. Dark shadows seemed to coil around the crack, as if it were a window to a grim world.

Koda, who sat next to Beomgyu, stared intently at the crack and growled softly, as if sensing the danger. The black water seeping from the crack formed a shiny, sticky puddle on the ground.

Kai examined the crack with a skeptical look. "It looks like it leads deep into the structure of the wall. As if something has pushed through from the other side."

"Or as if something might be behind it," Taehyun added to this theory and knelt down to take a closer look at the liquid. It resembled black goo, but he barely dared to touch it.

Beomgyu swallowed and recounted the strange incident from yesterday when he was in the city with Koda. The friends' attention remained on the crack and the mysterious black water. The liquid appeared to be pulsating and had an ominous presence, as if it had a life of its own. It radiated a coldness that was not only due to the wet surroundings.

Beomgyu warned earnestly: "This is definitely not an ordinary substance. Koda didn't want me to touch it."

The glistening puddle seemed to bubble with an unsettling energy, as if it contained a kind of eerie power. Even the surrounding architecture of the masonry was marked by the effects of the crack. Beomgyu could remember the sight from yesterday, and much had changed since then. Traces of decay wove through the structure. The nearby trees appeared weakened, their leaves tinged with an unhealthy dark hue. A cold wind swept through the branches, accompanied by a soft whisper that almost sounded like a mournful groan. Koda continued to growl, his fur bristling, and he persistently avoided getting too close to the puddle.

The sound coming from the wolfhound and Beomgyu's words caused the group to shift their attention to the animal.

"Koda," Beomgyu began cautiously, "you warned me about the black water. Do you know what it is?"

Koda lifted his head, his eyes piercing the crack and revealing a mixture of vigilance and unease. A soft growl escaped his throat, as if he had a connection to the eerie substance. Beomgyu waited expectantly for a reaction from the wolfhound when suddenly a deep, almost human voice echoed in his mind. ›Danger from the darkness.‹ The others stared at Koda, as the dog had not made a sound to them, but the way he looked at Beomgyu indicated that they were communicating. The long-haired boy's eyes narrowed as he processed Koda's words.
