In the midst of the darkness, Beomgyu lay motionless, unable to see, but his senses were heightened. The awareness that he was lying in bed merged with the desperate cries of a woman echoing in the darkness. The calls seemed to come from far away, as if carried through an endless void of loneliness. The familiar voices of his friends sounded distant, muffled, and unreal. A feeling of betrayal enveloped him like a cold fog as he struggled to understand the words lost in the darkness.
The drumming of the rain intensified, becoming an incessant roar that echoed in his ears, filling the room with sound.
Beomgyu felt the pain gnawing at his insides, and his eyes slowly filled with silent tears. They ran hot down his cheek.
He slowly opened his eyes, only to be met by the faint moonlight and the flickering of raindrops on the windows. The moon's rays illuminated Taehyun's face, who was sitting next to him on the cold wooden floor. The room was bathed in a dim light, and Beomgyu recognized from the drawings on the walls that they were in Taehyun's room.
Taehyun's gaze rested on him, his features etched with concern. In the silence that lay between them, the moon seemed to be the only thing capable of piercing through the darkness.
With a soft sniffle, Beomgyu sat up but said nothing. He was disappointed to realize what they had done to keep him there. He felt betrayed by his friends and didn't know how to handle this anger. So, Beomgyu slowly fought his way to his feet.
"Wait," Taehyun reached for his wrist. "I need to talk to you. Explain why we did this." The desperation and fear in his voice were palpable.
Taehyun's hand was automatically brushed away, and the younger received a scathing look from Beomgyu.
Still, Taehyun remained in his movement, as if he wanted to hear what the other had to say.
"I'm sorry, Beomgyu," he began, swallowing hard as a lump formed in his throat. "We're all sorry for how we treated you. We didn't mean to hurt you; we were so shocked that you wanted to leave, we lost control over our powers." The honest words were like fresh cement, anchoring them both to the ground.
Beomgyu stared at Taehyun with stunned eyes as the words crashed through the silence like a storm. The apology hung heavily in the air, but the pain of betrayal was still present. Images of the past events whirled through Beomgyu's mind like a whirlwind. A violent shiver coursed through his body as Taehyun's words echoed in his soul. The realization that they had held him with their powers to prevent him from leaving hit him like a blow. His frustration and anger boiled over, and without thinking, Beomgyu swung out and landed a painful punch to Taehyun's face.
A dull smack filled the room, accompanied by an eerie silence. The force of the blow made Taehyun's head jerk to the side. The red mark on his cheek testified to the intensity of the moment.
Beomgyu breathed heavily, his eyes blazing with fury.
"You can't just apologize for this, Taehyun! You held me here against my will!" His voice trembled with emotion as he moved away from Taehyun, crossed the room, and gasped for air as if he were frozen. "I've always done everything for you. The errands. Koda. The arcade machine. I fulfilled every one of your wishes. Wanting to help that boy was my decision. But that's exactly what you opposed. Kai was the only one who would have supported me. Leaving was the only solution for you! I would have waited for the boy to wake up, brought him home, and then come back to you."
