"Monsieur, votre femme est stable maintenant. Le médecin aimerait vous parler." The nurse stood in front of Rehaan was pacing back and forth outside the room where Dur e Shahwar was admitted in the hospital.
(Sir, your wife is stable now. The doctor would like to speak to you.)
"Bien." He felt like his head was a little less heavy though his whole body ached. It had been twelve hours since he'd been in the hospital. His wife had a nervous breakdown. She was completely unstable when they'd brought her there last night.
(Alright.)
He went to see the doctor who told him that he wanted Shahwar's previous medical history to check if this wasn't a repetition of a previous issue. They wanted to use medication accordingly. Then he told him that she had been in an extremely painful mental state which had led this to happen. He had advised Rehaan to be much more cautious about her when Rehaan had admitted that they had an argument before it all happened. He didn't know what to respond to when the doctor had asked him to love his wife with proper care.
Rehaan walked back to the room where his wife was lying unconscious. He was genuinely close to cutting off ties with his friends for their careless actions but they had been messaging him constantly since the previous night apologizing for everything. He didn't know what he was supposed to do with Shahwar.
He stood against the wall looking at her, then not knowing how much later her eyes opened and she looked at him. She was quiet. And he stood in the same spot. Both of them were silent for a long time until Shahwar tried to move her hand to grab the glass of water next to her hospital bed and Rehaan beat her to it.
He moved the glass to her lips and she sipped the water slowly to ease the burning of her throat. He was still quiet. He was feeling upset more and more as he looked at her. What if something had happened to her? What would that say about him as man?
"Thank you." She said passing a small smile.
Rehaan was now furious at her effort to force a smile at him in this state. Though what he didn't know was that Shahwar was always like that. She could never be upset with a person for long. No matter what. If the period was truly longer than necessary then it meant the person had done irreparable damage.
"When it doesn't matter to anyone whether you're alive or not, why are you trying to get sympathy by pulling this nonsense." It wasn't him, it was his own anger at himself. He didn't know what to do with his disgusting behavior from last night.
"You're right. I was being too impetuous." She breathed in to pause, "I troubled you a lot, didn't I?" Too soft, too unbearable for Rehaan. Shahwar was an extremely gentle person she didn't ever really raise her voice much most of her life.
"Be quiet, will you?" He lowered his head over her chest, "I'm sorry." He rested his face on her with least force weighing over it. "I'm so sorry Shahwar."
