This work is fan-fiction based on J.R.R. Tolkien's attempt at a sequel for the Lord of the Rings. Though I don't consider this work to be "the" suitable "sequel". It is just a possible history of what happened afterwards that I would like to share with other readers and fans of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Tolkien seemed to think that the story would only be a thriller and was therefore not worth finishing. I however see hope in telling this story.

I went to Middle-Earth Enterprises website https://www.middleearth.com/faq.html to see if it was permitted for me to publish this work and it says that as a fan of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, that I am entitled to be able to do so.

It is not my intention to sell this work and I do believe that it will not harm the corporations that currently own the copyrights to the movie adaptations of Tolkien's works

It is also true that neither Tolkien nor his son Christopher intended to finish the story and both of them have passed on, (Tolkien 1973 & Christopher 2020). As many works have been written and sold based on the works of Tolkien, I felt that it would be alright for me to release my own idea of what a continuation of the text of The New Shadow would be like.

I hold to the Philosophy of Tolkien as explained in the following YouTube video :

I am therefore opposed to the portrayal of Tolkien's legendarium in Amazon's "The Rings of Power" series.

I am writing this work in 2024.

PROLOGUE

By J.R.R. Tolkien

This tale begins in the days of Eldarion, son of that Elessar of whom the histories have much to tell. One hundred and five years had passed since the fall of the Dark Tower, and the story of that time was little heeded now by most of the people of Gondor, though a few were still living who could remember the War of the Ring as a shadow upon their early childhood. One of these was old Borlas of Pen-arduin. He was the younger son of Beregond, the first Captain of the Guard of Prince Faramir, who had removed with his lord from the City to the Emyn Arnen.
