Today was the day of the cheerleading tryouts, and excitement and nervousness hung thick in the air. Chaeryeong was feeling her usual jitters but had an inkling that they'd do well and secure a spot on the team.
The morning started with a burst of enthusiasm. Yuna burst into the room with a loud squeal. "Guys, surprise! I got us matching costumes!"
Ryujin, still groggy and tangled in her blanket, grumbled, "Was it really necessary to drag us out of bed for this?"
"Absolutely!" Yuna insisted. "First impressions are everything, and we're going to look amazing!"
Chaeryeong, wide awake now and beaming with excitement, admired the costumes. "Yuna, these are perfect! Thank you!"
The girls quickly got ready and headed to the gym for the tryouts. As they walked in, they could feel the weight of everyone's gaze on them. Chaeryeong took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "Alright, everyone, let's give it our all today!"
Yeji, ever the motivator, added, "Remember, we've practiced hard for this. We've got this!" Lia, with her trademark bright smile, chimed in, "And don't forget to smile! It'll make all the difference!"
Meanwhile, the boys were scrambling to get to the gym. "Come on, guys, hurry up!" Soobin urged, trying to catch his breath. "We need to get there before it starts!"
Beomgyu, grinning, teased, "What's the rush, Soobin? Got a crush on one of the cheerleaders?"
Soobin's cheeks flushed slightly as he stuttered, "W-what? No, it's not like that. I just want to see how they're doing."
As the boys finally arrived at the gym, they were met with a burst of energy. The girls had just started their routine, and the room was filled with excited murmurs and glances. The football team found seats near the front, their expressions a mix of curiosity and intrigue.
The girls began their performance, and the football players were quickly engrossed. Taehyun, who had been quietly observing, leaned over to Soobin and said, "They're really good. I wasn't expecting them to be this impressive."
Soobin, eyes fixed on Lia, nodded. "Yeah, they've got a lot of energy. Lia's really standing out, don't you think?"
Yeonjun, watching the routine with a smirk, added, "Looks like you're not the only one who's noticed. They've all got great chemistry."
As the cheerleaders danced and performed their stunts, the boys couldn't help but be impressed. Chaeryeong's graceful movements and radiant smile drew a lot of attention. Even though she sensed a pair of curious eyes on her, she kept her focus on the performance.
After the routine ended, the gym erupted in applause. The girls, their faces flushed with exhilaration, gathered together, their excitement palpable.
"We did it!" Chaeryeong exclaimed, still catching her breath. "I think we nailed it!"
Ryujin, grinning widely, agreed, "Definitely! We've worked so hard, and it shows. I'm confident we'll get selected."
Lia, beaming with pride, added, "And we had a great audience! Did you see how the football team was watching us?"
The boys, now engaged in their own conversation, were reflecting on the performance. "They were really impressive," Beomgyu said, nodding towards Soobin. "Especially Chaeryeong. She had a stage presence that was hard to miss."
Soobin, trying to play it cool but clearly intrigued, said, "Yeah, they all did great. Lia looked fantastic out there."
Taehyun, who had been quietly observing, commented, "Their routine was solid. They've definitely made an impact."
The other boys exchanged surprised glances. Taehyun rarely paid attention to such things, and it was unusual for him to comment on anything outside of football.
Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Really? I didn't think you'd be so into cheerleading tryouts."
Taehyun shrugged, a rare smile playing on his lips. "What can I say? When something catches your eye, you notice it."
"So, what did you see?" Kai asked, leaning in with curiosity. "You seemed pretty focused."
Taehyun's gaze was steady as he replied, "Well, there was this one person who seemed particularly absorbed in watching Chaeryeong. It was like their attention was fixed on her the entire time."
"Seriously?" Soobin's interest was piqued. "Who was it?"
Taehyun shook his head. "I'm not entirely sure. It's just that I noticed someone staring intently at her. Didn't recognize them."
Beomgyu, with a mischievous glint in his eye, nudged Taehyun. "Oh, come on. Are you saying you were watching Chaeryeong too?"
Taehyun's expression hardened slightly. "No. I was just observing the performance. It's not like I was particularly interested in anyone."
Yeonjun smirked, clearly enjoying the moment. "Sure, Taehyun. We believe you. But you did seem pretty absorbed."
"Yeah," Kai added with a grin. "Almost like you had a personal stake in the performance."
Taehyun rolled his eyes. "I just thought they did a good job. That's all."
Soobin leaned closer, his voice teasing. "You know, Taehyun, it's okay if you find someone interesting. No need to act all indifferent."
Taehyun shot him a look, trying to maintain his composure. "I'm not acting indifferent. I'm just focused on what matters."
Beomgyu chuckled. "You know, it's funny. We've never seen you this interested in something other than football. Maybe you're developing a new hobby."
"Or maybe you're just a bit curious," Yeonjun teased. "Nothing wrong with that, right?"
Taehyun sighed, clearly feeling cornered. "Alright, fine. I noticed someone. Doesn't mean I'm going to do anything about it. Can we just focus on practice now?"
The boys laughed, enjoying Taehyun's discomfort. "Alright, alright," Kai said, still grinning. "But don't be surprised if people start thinking you're a cheerleading fan now."
As they continued their conversation, Taehyun's mood shifted, and he tried to brush off the teasing. The boys' laughter and jabs were light-hearted, but the seed of curiosity about Chaeryeong had been planted in Taehyun's mind.
As the girls finished up and began to leave the gym, their faces lit up with satisfaction. "Let's celebrate!" Chaeryeong suggested. "We deserve it after all that hard work."
"Yes!" Yeji agreed, "Let's freshen up and then head to our favorite café and enjoy the rest of the day."
