Taehyun had just left the room to gather some equipment for the singing club—a few instruments, microphones, and the music system they needed for the tryouts. As the vice-captain, it was part of his job to make sure everything ran smoothly. His mind, however, kept drifting back to the flustered girl he had bumped into earlier—Chaeryeong. He couldn't quite figure out why he was so distracted by her. She's just another girl, he told himself, trying to refocus.
Meanwhile, inside the clubroom, Chaeryeong sat quietly at the corner, still mentally preparing herself for the audition. Suddenly, she felt someone sit down beside her. She glanced over and instantly lit up with recognition.
"Changbin oppa!" Chaeryeong beamed, her voice filled with excitement. "What are you doing here?"
Changbin, with his usual friendly grin, leaned back casually in his seat. "I'm on the football team now," he said with a hint of pride.
Chaeryeong's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? That's amazing!" The two quickly fell into an easy conversation, laughing and catching up as if no time had passed since they last saw each other. Changbin had been one of her closest friends growing up. Their families were practically intertwined, and they shared countless childhood memories. Seeing him again after so long brought her a sense of comfort and joy.
But then, the door swung open, and Taehyun walked back in, carrying the equipment. As he entered, his eyes immediately fell on Chaeryeong. She was laughing—really laughing—with someone he recognized: Changbin, his teammate from the football team. The sight of them together made something inside him twist uncomfortably, though he couldn't understand why.
Before he even realized it, his grip on the heavy music system loosened. With a loud crash, the equipment fell to the floor, the sudden noise echoing through the room. The impact startled everyone. A collective gasp swept across the room as people flinched and turned to look at the source of the disruption.
Taehyun stood there, frozen, his jaw clenched tightly, his eyes locked onto Changbin and Chaeryeong. His face was a mask of cold seriousness, but inside, he was fighting off an unfamiliar surge of irritation. He didn't understand what he was feeling—why the sight of her with another guy bothered him so much. His usual calm demeanor was slipping, and it was making him frustrated.
Chaeryeong, who had been mid-laugh, suddenly felt the weight of his intense gaze on her. She flinched, her smile fading as a chill ran down her spine. Taehyun's expression was unreadable, but there was something about the way he was looking at her and Changbin that made her uneasy. She had never seen him like this before—so tense, so serious.
Changbin, unaware of the shift in atmosphere, continued smiling, oblivious to the effect his presence had on Taehyun. "Yo, Taehyun! You okay, man?" he asked, noticing the fallen equipment.
Taehyun snapped out of his trance, his expression shifting back to his usual stoic self. "Yeah," he said curtly, bending down to pick up the equipment without saying anything further.
The room was filled with awkward silence for a moment. Chaeryeong shifted uncomfortably in her seat, still trying to figure out what had just happened. Did I do something wrong? she wondered, her heart racing again.
Changbin, sensing the tension but not fully understanding it, leaned in closer to Chaeryeong. "Is he always like that?" he asked in a low voice, still smiling but now more curious.
Chaeryeong shook her head, her mind still preoccupied with Taehyun's strange behavior. "I don't know... He's usually pretty quiet," she replied softly, glancing back toward Taehyun, who was now setting up the equipment with his back turned to them.
From across the room, Taehyun couldn't help but steal another glance in their direction. His jaw tightened again. Why does it bother me so much that she's laughing with him? he thought, frustrated with himself. He didn't want to admit it—not even to himself—but something about Chaeryeong was beginning to get under his skin.
"Okay so we are beginning with the auditions now."the Captain Ning Ning said.
Chaeryeong's nervousness came rushing back she hoped she was last, people came and went there were great singers and some who left crying all this made her more nervous
The she heard it her name being called out
"Lee Chaeryeong"a deep voice called out ,it was Taehyun her heart started beating faster she took a deep breath and stood on the stage"Okay, so we are beginning with the auditions now," Ning Ning, the captain of the singing club, announced in her usual confident tone, looking around the room with a smile.
Chaeryeong's stomach churned with nerves. She glanced around at the other participants, hoping she could go last to buy herself more time. As the first few contestants took the stage, she grew more anxious. Some were absolutely incredible, their voices filling the room with power and emotion, while others left in tears, defeated by their own fear or mistakes. Every audition seemed to ratchet up her anxiety even more.
*What if I mess up?* she thought, biting her lip. Her heart was racing, palms sweaty as she wrung her hands nervously. She prayed silently for more time, for some miracle that would give her a little longer to gather herself.
But then, she heard her name.
"**Lee Chaeryeong**."
Her head snapped up. The voice that called her was deep and calm, and it sent a shock through her system. She didn't even need to look to know it was Taehyun. He stood at the side of the room, his unreadable gaze fixed on her as he held the clipboard. Her heart pounded in her chest, each beat louder than the last.
Taking a shaky breath, she rose to her feet, feeling like the whole room was watching her every move. Slowly, she made her way to the stage, her legs feeling like they were made of lead. She could feel the weight of Taehyun's eyes on her, making her even more self-conscious. She hated how much it affected her.
When she finally stood on the stage, she forced herself to look at the audience. The room was filled with unfamiliar faces—some bored, some curious, and some already expecting her to fail. But then, her eyes unintentionally found Taehyun again. He was watching her closely, arms crossed, his expression still blank. *Why does he have to be the one calling my name?* she thought, her nerves spiking.
Her hands trembled as she reached for the microphone. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, reminding herself of all the times she had practiced alone in her room. *You've got this. You can do this.*
She started singing
As soon as she stopped her heart still beating fast everyone started clapping loudly she felt quite satisfied.Everyone's eyes were on her she just bowed and left, she saw Changbin smiling and showing her a thumbs up she smiled seeing that but another person was quite bothered by the view.
