Once upon a time, in a realm where magic wove through every leaf and stone, there reigned a powerful and benevolent fairy queen named Calista. Her subjects, a diverse array of magical creatures, adored her for her wisdom and kindness. The enchanted forest they called home was a sanctuary of harmony and wonder.

One serene morning, a group of fawns stumbled upon a human baby nestled among the roots of an ancient oak. The infant radiated a strange, potent magic that unsettled the creatures. Fearful of the unknown, they considered ending the child's life. But Queen Calista, sensing the child's innocence, intervened.

"Stop!" she commanded, her voice gentle yet firm. "This child is not to be harmed."

The creatures hesitated, their loyalty to Calista outweighing their fear. The queen approached the baby, her heart swelling with compassion. She decided to raise the child as her own, naming her Abyss for her hair, which was as blue-black as the deepest ocean.

Abyss's life in the enchanted forest was filled with wonder and learning. Each morning, she would rise with the sun, her heart brimming with gratitude for the life she had been given. She spent her days exploring the forest, her laughter echoing through the trees as she played with the sprites and danced with the nymphs.

Despite her royal status, Abyss was humble and kind. She would often help the creatures with their daily tasks, whether it was gathering herbs with the wise old gnomes, mending the wings of an injured pixie, or singing lullabies to the baby unicorns. Her magic was a gift she used to heal and nurture, never to harm. She would conjure gentle rains to water the flowers and create shimmering lights to guide lost travelers.

As the years passed, Abyss's kindness and selflessness earned her the trust and love of every creature in the forest. They saw her not as an outsider anymore, but as one of their own. Her bond with Calista grew stronger, and the queen often marveled at the depth of Abyss's compassion and the strength of her magic.

One fateful day, a human named Ewarts ventured into the heart of the enchanted forest. His presence was an anomaly, a ripple in the serene magic that enveloped the land. Tall and imposing, with eyes that gleamed like polished obsidian, he approached with an air of authority. He claimed to be Abyss's father and insisted her true name was Jemma. His voice was smooth, his words carefully chosen, as he spoke of a noble lineage of mages who served the good human king.

Calista, ever perceptive, felt a chill run down her spine. There was something unsettling about Ewarts, a darkness that lurked beneath his polished exterior. She narrowed her eyes, her senses attuned to the subtle currents of magic that swirled around him.

"Your words are sweet," she said, her voice steady and calm, "but your heart is not pure."

"Who in this world is completely pure," asked the mage in return.

Abyss, standing beside her adoptive mother, felt a surge of conflicting emotions. Curiosity gnawed at her, a longing to understand her origins and the world beyond the forest. She turned to Calista, her eyes pleading.

"Please, Mother," she implored, "I need to know where I come from. If I don't like it, I promise to return."

Calista's heart ached at the thought of letting Abyss go, but she understood the young woman's need for answers. She placed a gentle hand on Abyss's shoulder, her expression a mix of sorrow and resolve.

"Very well," she said softly, "but be cautious, my dear. Trust your instincts and remember all that you have learned here."

Ewarts smiled to her and offered his hand. Abyss gave a last hug to her mother and turned to the human to take his hand.
