Wyatt's POV
As we begin on the fort, I notice Riley shiver, and realize she is only wearing shorts and a t shirt.
"I'll be right back," I say, "Will you be fine down here alone?"
"Yep." She replies, a little bit hesitantly, "I should probably call my parents anyways."
I nod, grateful that the power is still on which makes me feel better about leaving her here on her own.
Running up the stairs, I glance back to see Riley already dialing her parents.
I head the rest of the way up to my room, opening up the door to the familiar space. Making my way to the closest, I see two bundles of fabric on my bed.
I grab them quickly and head back down stairs, pausing to grab some more snacks.
"Perfect timing," Riley says, glancing up from her phone. "I just got off with my parents. What did you grab?" Her voice still has a slight wobble in it from earlier.
"Oh," I replied, tossing her one of the bundles of fabric. "Just some sweatshirts in case we got cold."
"Thank you." She slipped on the swearshirt, her hair getting slightly mussed from the static, her small frame completely drowning in the fabric. I've never seen someone look as gorgeous as Riley did in that moment.
"Do you want to start on the fort?" She asks, snapping me out of my staring. A light blush has covered her features.
"Uh, yeah, sure." I stammered out like an idiot.
We built the fort in silence, the air filled with the sound of cushions and blankets rustling.
The fort was small, meaning Riley and I needed to sit close together. I open up my phone, scrolling to find the Disney plus app. I had left it charging for a little bit.
I shut off the lights and grab the headphones and adapter to connect to my phone. I hand Riley the headphones, which she covers her earring clad ears with.
As we cover ourselves in the pillows and blankets and grab the snacks, I hit play on Avengers.
A happy, nearly giddy smile crosses Riley's face as the opening credits play.
