When the lunch bell rang, Dd met up with Notti and Ddot. They were clowning each other about something, per usual, as they headed toward the cafeteria.
Notti elbowed him. "Yo you see that girl from yesterday again?"
Dd smirked. "Yea I gotta class with her now."
Notti raised an eyebrow. "What Imani? She cool tho. You jackin ha?"
Dd scoffed, shaking his head. "Nah it's not even like that her attitude bad as hell."
Ddot laughed. "Bro that's nyc girls for you. You gotta apply pressure."
Dd didn't respond, but he couldn't shake the thought. Was he really about to entertain this?
As they entered the cafeteria, Dd scanned the room, spotting Imani sitting at a table with her friends—Lena and Jade. Notti, not one to hesitate, started walking toward them.
Notti plopped down next to Jade without even asking if he could sit there again.
Ddot followed. Dd hung back for a second before taking the seat across from Imani, who looked less than pleased. She crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing as Dd made himself comfortable.
Lena, always quick to tease, grinned and nudged Imani. "Imani, you got beef with anyone today, or is it just him?"
Dd smirked, clearly entertained by the comment. "You beefin with me now?"
Imani shot Lena a look before turning to Dd. scoffing before she said "don't flatter yourself."
Dd chuckled, leaning in slightly. "Don't need to. You do it for me."
Her eyes narrowed further, and the tension at the table grew. Lena and Jade exchanged glances, clearly entertained by the back-and-forth, while Notti and Ddot were already cracking jokes with each other, barely noticing the heat between Dd and Imani.
As lunch went on, the conversation flowed, but Dd could tell Imani was trying hard to ignore him. That only made him more curious. He wasn't the type to let things go, and something about Imani's energy just made him wanna push her buttons more.
Dd's attention was on Imani. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through it casually, before glancing up at her.
"What's yo number?" he asked, nonchalantly like it was no big deal.
Imani looked up from her phone mean mugging, clearly caught off guard. "Why?"
Dd smirked. "So I can warn you before I show up and mess up your day again."
She rolled her eyes but eventually gave him her number. Dd saved it with a smirk, leaning back as if he'd already won something.
