Poppy: *stares at her computer screen*
Branch: Poppy? Why do you look so distressed? 🤨
Poppy: 🥺
Branch: What are you even-*suddenly goes blank* 😐
Branch: ...Poppy, I...
Poppy: Branch, why do we live in this world if nothing good happens?!?! *she starts to sob* They don't deserve this!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Branch: Poppy...*he wraps his arms around her* I'm sorry...I'm not sure what we can do *he kisses her forehead* But you're right, this shouldn't be happening...🥺
Poppy: *sobs into his shoulder hugging him tightly*
Corky is just one example of the orcas suffering in captivity. In Sea World, at least 44 orcas have died in tanks, many from diseases they don't get in the wild. Tilikum died of a lung infection in 2017 at 35 years, Kiska died from a bacterial infection 2023 at 47 years, and Shamu died of blood poisoning in 1971 at just 9 years old. Orcas can live for up to 90 years, but living in captivity is causing them to die young. They shouldn't be living in tanks, and they shouldn't be forced to breed before the age of 14, and they definitely shouldn't be performing for others' entertainment. They need to be free, out in the wild.
