Derek finds himself in an unfamiliar place, but he does look around to figure out where the wind took him. "Hello? Odette? Are you here?" He called. There wasn't a reply, but the king eventually finds a sign.
Welcome to Mississippi!
"What's Mississippi? Oh well, all I know is that's where I am." Said Derek. A shadow flies over his head. "Whoa, what was that?" He asked. The shadow comes back a second later, once again flying over Derek's head.
A small elephant wearing a frilly collar and a yellow hat comes down from the sky. It also has very big ears. "A flying elephant? You don't see that every day." Derek said. He approaches the elephant. "Hi, little fella." He said.
Even though Derek is being gentle with the elephant, it starts backing away from him fearfully. "Hey, it's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." Said Derek. Trusting the king's words, the elephant walks towards him. "I'm Derek, what's your name?" Derek asked.
The elephant doesn't say anything. "What's the matter? Can't you speak?" Asked Derek. The elephant shakes its head, then picks up a nearby piece of chalk, writing down his name.
Dumbo
"Dumbo? Never heard that name before, but I like it." Derek said. Dumbo smiles. "Anyway, I seem to have gotten separated from my wife during a storm that took place. The wind brought me here, which is very weird." Said Derek.
Dumbo nods in agreement. "Although I have to ask, how is it that you can fly?" Derek asked. Dumbo looks around and picks up a feather that was plucked from a crow, waving it like a wand. "A feather... a magic feather? Then your friend, Timothy Q. Mouse, said it was only a psychological aid?" Asked Derek as he tried to understand the mute elephant.
A smile appears on Dumbo's face as the king was able to catch on even without words. "So you were actually able to fly all along with just your ears?" Derek asked. Dumbo nods. "That's really neat! Now do you think you can help me return to my kingdom, Chamberg?" Asked Derek.
Dumbo frowns. "What's wrong? Do you not know where it is?" Derek asked. Dumbo shakes his head sadly. "Oh well, I guess I'm left with no other choice but to wait for someone to find me. You don't mind sticking around, do you, Dumbo?" Asked Derek. Dumbo shakes his head again, but this time with a smile. "Thank you. I don't think I can handle being alone in an unfamiliar place any longer." Derek said.
