I thought I would talk about this because I don't see why not plus I feel like it's an important topic to talk about. I know some men are told they can't like the color pink and I really don't get why because why can't they? It's not hurting anyone if they do and to be fair in my opinion pink is the pastel version of red and they can like red. Moving on there are other stereotypes like girls can wear dresses but men can't except I don't get it because it is just clothing, something we use to cover ourselves so why can't they?
First side rant of the book woo:
So when I was going clothes shopping with my family. My younger sister wanted a top as you do in a clothes store and he said no, not because of the price no but it was a boys top. It was her favourite movie series thing. Idk if it's a series or not because there is more than one movie so probably but anyway that's unfair to say. Of course I challenged that, sharing that people can wear what they want despite the colour.
I don't remember what I said but I think she got the top eventually.
End of side rant
If women can wear a suit then men can wear a dress it doesn't matter. Also pretty sure women are allowed to wear pants or jeans. One of the things I don't agree with is that men can't wear make-up but women have to otherwise they don't look pretty. Makeup isn't everything and yes it does make you look nice but it shouldn't be a requirement but something that is chosen. It should be used as something fun and as a hobby or if someone wants to take it on a job when they have the experience to do it.
Makeup is just another style of art that people do, some are good at it and some aren't the best but it takes practice. I noticed that if it is an important event or party then the women are supposed to wear a dress, makeup and heels. Men are supposed to wear a suit with a tie or bow tie and posh shoes. I don't see why we can't just wear what we want to wear because then otherwise we are just fitting into society standards. I feel like a lot of men are actually better at doing makeup than some women and they look amazing in it.
If I had an important event I want to give the option for makeup for both genders, dresses or suits for both genders and heels or shoes for both genders. It is up to the person not up to me what they wear because I want them to be happy and comfortable not wear something they feel they have to just to fit in. Plus I don't wear make-up since I don't feel the need to use it plus I'm not really into that kind of stuff. I mean if I want then I will but if I don't then I won't force myself to.
I wouldn't judge if there was a man with make-up on as long as they're happy that's all that matters and if they wear dresses that's ok as well. I am not the type to wear dresses but I don't mind wearing them. Another stereotype I don't get is how a gay man and woman are expected to act like the opposite gender. That has nothing to do with it and it has nothing to do with their sexuality. I get some men do appear to be more feminine but not all of them and not all lesbians are tomboys.
Like I said I don't think that has anything to do with who they love, they just feel more comfortable with either wearing make-up or dresses. I hope that how society views gender changes one day and everyone can wear what they feel comfortable in whether it's a man in a dress wearing makeup or a woman not having to wear makeup without judgment. I'm sure we will get there one day but we still have a lot of years to get to that point but I know it will happen one day.
Feel free to comment your thoughts but please don't cause arguments, I want this to be a safe, non-toxic environment.
